MRS. ELLA ALKIRE,
Dies Sat. A.M. After Lingering Illness

Funeral Services Held At M.E. Church
Monday P.M. Burial in Hillcrest

Mrs. Ella Alkire, age 66, passed away at her home at 3:30 Saturday morning. She had been in failing health for a number of years and was critically ill the last three days preceding her death. Mrs. Blanche Mortimore who has been faithfully taking care of her for several months and Mrs. Cora Pringle were both at her bedside at the last.

Besides her many friends, Mrs. Alkire is survived by two children, Mrs. Velda Foster of Philadelphia and Harper Alkire of Clington. A nephew Ray George of Philadelphia also survives. Ray and his brother Gilbert who died 4 years ago were raised by Mrs. Alkire. Mrs. Velda Foster of Philadelphia who visited her mother in August did not come for the funeral. Her son Harper of Clinton was also here in August at the time his sister was home and he arrived here Saturday night to take care of the funeral arrangements. Mrs. Gilbert George was here from Columbus Jt. to stay at the Alkire home until after the funeral.

Mrs. Ella George Alkire was well known and highly respected in this community having lived here since childhood. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John George.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Methodist Church in charge of Rev. C. C. Goltry.

Burial was in Hillcrest cemetery beside her parents.
