Descendants of Brewer Sinex

Brewer Sinex was born about 1799 in Wilmington, Delaware, and died April 30, 1872 in New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana. Brewer was a younger brother to Thomas Sinex, an early lumber merchant (and the Thomas Sinex Vault at Fairview Cemetery), John Sinex (Coroner of Floyd County for many years) and sisters Elizabeth & Nancy, and although there is made mention of other siblings, no further information has been proven as yet. He is shown as a resident of New Albany, Indiana as early as the 1830 census. He married (1) Mary Selvy about or before 1830.

According to census records Mary was born about 1802 in Pennsylvania, and died before December 20, 1853 since this is the date Brewer married Rachel Thompson in Floyd County, Indiana. Rachel was born about 1814, and died September 10, 1892 in New Albany, Indiana. Rachel had been previously married and brought a daughter Catherine Lloyd into the marriage.

1.  Calvin L. Sinex was born September 28, 1831 in Indiana, and died February 23, 1893 in New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana. He was married November 15, 1849 to Sarah Dalby, daughter of Thomas Dalby and Anne (nee'?) Dalby. Sarah was born September 01, 1828 in England, and died September 16, 1912 in New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana. Children born to the marital union of Calvin Sinex and Sarah Dalby, are:

c. Sarah A. Sinex was born August 08, 1857 in Indiana. She married August Schray November 19, 1878 in Floyd County, Indiana. He was born April 13, 1857. Children born to the marital union of Sarah Sinex & August Schray are as follows:

Home of Ella Sandlewick Sinex, widow of Benjamin Sinex, up through the 1960s.  Ella passed away in 1976 just shy a few days of 102 years of age.
