Haynes, e-mail message from <ch1212@hotmail.com> to Pam Wood Waugh, 10 June
2002, " have a newspaper clipping that I found inside my grandmother's small
carry-Bible. The headline reads: AUGUSTA CAMPBELL DIES AT 95. Here is the story:
"OAK HARBOR: Mrs. Augusta Campbell passed away Friday, June 11th, at the
V.L. Speer home in Oak Harbor, having reached the age of 95 years and three months.
Mrs. Campbell was born Augusta Benjamin at Tynmouth, New Brunswick on March 12,
1853. She spent her girlhood at this place and was married there at the age of
twenty to Amos Campbell. To this union was born one daughter, Alice. They moved
to Carleton County of that same province. It was there her husband died in 1895."The
article goes on to discuss the survivors, although no names are mentioned. Surviving
daughter Alice married Vern Speer, and they had two daughters: my grandmother
Beatrice Speer Williams (JAMES) and my great aunt Myrtle Speer Jackson. Beatrice
and James Williams had six children, among them my mother, Dorothy Margaret Williams
Durkee Norwood". Hereinafter cited as "E-mail - Haynes, Catherine".
