     William Derick was born on 22 August 1823 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.1 He was the son of William Derick and Melinda Hurlbut. William Derick was baptized on 4 July 1825 at Noyan, Missisquoi Co, Quebec.2 He married Clarinda Scott, daughter of John Scott and Mary Tallman. William Derick died on 21 January 1880 at age 56.3 He was buried at North Burke Cemetery, Burke, Franklin Co, New York.4
     William Derick and his family apparently moved around quite a bit. After residing in Noyan in the 1840's, they lived at Russeltown, Huntingdon Co, Quebec by 1851. In 1861, they resided in Clarenceville, Quebec, but by 1870 were of Burke, Franklin Co, NY.
