Rufus Melvin Covey was born on 3 May 1876 at Mooers, Clinton Co, New York.^1,2 He was the son of William Covey and Fanny Adelia Wells. Rufus Melvin Covey married Jennie Minnie Covey, daughter of Hiram Barzilla Covey and Corintha Eleanor Taylor, on 19 August 1896 at Ellenburgh Corners, Clinton Co, New York.³ Rufus Melvin Covey died on 25 December 1952 at Northfield, Washington Co, Vermont, at age 76.² He was buried at Mount Hope Cemetery, Northfield Ctr, Washington Co, Vermont.
Rufus Melvin Covey appeared on the census of 8 June 1900 at 38 Lenox Avenue, Pittsfield, Berkshire Co, Massachusetts; Rufus Covey, 24, (May 1876), wife Jennie, 21 (Mar 1879), both born NY, son Raymond, 1 (Jan 1899), b. Quebec. They had two children, one living.⁴ He appeared on the census of 11 February 1920 at Northfield, Washington Co, Vermont; Rufus Covey, 51, and Hattie M., 48. There were no children listed with them.⁵
