JOHN & SARAH ANN (HODGE) WASH, Jr.

John Wash, Jr. was born Sept. 4, 1792 in Cumberland Co., Kentucky to John Wash, Sr. and Nancy Frasier Gatewood. They removed to Lewis Co., Missouri in 1829. He married first to Lucy Ingram Alexander, 13 February 1817. To them nine children were born with Lucy dying 21 September 1832, in Lewis Co., Missouri shortly after the birth of her son, Phillip Thomas Wash.

On January 6, 1833 John married Sarah Ann Hodge, in Marion Co., Missouri. Sally was born Nov. 7, 1805 Lexington, Fayette Co., Kentucky to William Nathaniel Hodge and Jane Morrison. They had five children. John passed away October 1847 in Lewis Co., Missouri and Sally in 1877 at Coryell Co., Texas.

Will of John Wash, recorded 24 November 1846, Lewis Co., Missouri

I John Wash, Jr. of the county of Lewis County and state of Missouri being mindful of my mortality, though being now in good health and of sound mind and memory do make publish and declare this to be my last will and Testament in the manner and form following ???. First it is my will that all my debts be punctually and speedily paid. I give and bequeath unto my wife Sarah Ann forty acres of land being a part of the tract on which I live being the north half of the west half of south west quarter of section number twenty, in Townshiip number sixty north and in Range number six west also she the said Sarah Ann is to have out of my estate a bed with its furniture the said Sarah Ann is to have the aforesaid tract of land with all the appurtenances there unto ???nging and the rents issues and profits there of for and during the term of her natural life and from and after the decease of my said wife, I give, and bequeath the said lands and tenements to be equally divided among all my children that are alive at the time of my decease as well as the legal representatives of those that are alive at the present if any of them should die before me which said legacy given to my said wife as afore said. I here by declare is in tended to be and is so given to her an full satisfaction and recompense of and for her dower and this as which she may or can in any wise clain an demand out of my estate. It is my will that my daughter Nancy ????? the young bay mare now ?????????? known by the name of Fancey. It is my will that my mill shall not be sold but that the profits of the same be equally divided among all my children that are now alive as to the negroes that I have in my possession I have disposed of them by deed of gift which is now my will as to the tract of land an which I now live. I have disposed of that also by deed which deed is now my will, it is my will that all my beds not otherwise disposed of and my house and kitchen furniture all yarns &c about the house shall be equally divided among my seven children that are now alive and if either of said children die without heirs their part is to be divided among the surving part of the seven children named above. It is my will that all the rest residue and remainders of all my estate personal shall be sold and after my debts are paid the balance is to be equally divided among my seven children that are now alive or their legal representatives and lastly I appoint Mayes Johnston, John G. Nunn and James W. Lay the sole Executors of this my will.
In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this ninth day of Sept. in the year of our lord Eighteen hundred and thirty three. Signed sealed published and declaired by the above married John Wash, Jr to be his last will and testament who in his pressence at his request and in the presence of each other have here into subscribed our names as Mayes Johnston, James W.
