Isabel Nicol McIntire's Patriarchal Blessing
Nauvoo, Illinois, 10 April 1845

A blessing by John Smith, Patriarch, upon the head of Isabel Nicol McIntire, daughter of William Nicol and Agnes Bronlee Nicol, born 13 October 1801.

Sister Isabel, I lay my hands upon thy head by the authority of the Priesthood and in the name of Jesus Christ and seal a Father's blessing upon thee. Thou art of the same lineage as thy companion. And all the blessings and power which are sealed upon thee, I also ordain thee to have power in thy family to heal the sick when thy companion is absent and to rebuke the destroyer that he shall have no power over thy children. Thy shall have power in company with thy companion and friends to redeem thy Father's house for many generations back, bring them up in the morning of the resurrection and shall reign over them in the house of Israel and thy posterity shall continue to increase so they cannot be numbered for multitude. The number of thy years shall be according to thy faith, thou shalt see and hear and know of the rolling forth of the cause of Zion until thou art satisfied. Come up in the morning of the resurrection into eternal life. This is thy blessing which shall not fail, if you continue in the faith until the end, even so, Amen.
