"Washington County: James J. Massey files to sell property of ABEL MASSEY, deceased."NOTE: James J. Massey advertised an Executor's sale of 210 acres of land, the home place of ABEL MASSEY, adjacent to S. Robison, D. Cason, W. Turner. The home place was located nine (9) miles from Sandersville on the road leading to Rutherford's Bride on Buffalo Creek. The Executor's sale was for the benefit of ABEL MASSEY'S heirs. /s/ James J. Massey.
An undated letter to the Southern Progress, published August 4, 1983, from Theron L. Smith, 3529 Wooten Drive, Fort Worth Texas said ABEL MASSEY, BARACHIAS MASSEY and SAMPSON MASSEY were brothers and came from Franklin County, North Carolina into Washington County, Georgia about 1820.
