Phips house is number 41 in this 1725 painting
of the north end of Boston by William Burgis. Phipps House and lot appears
on a 1750 map of Boston on Charter Street in the North End of Boston, next
to the Burying Ground. The lot extends back to Hull Street, and takes up
the whole corner of Salem and Charter Streets, taking up half of the block
of Charter Street. Around the corner from it on Salem Street is Christ
Church.
This 1750 map of Boston shows an outline of the Phips
property on Charter Street highlighted in yellow in the upper left corner
across from Christ church. As can be seen it was a large property.
The other property on the block is Copps Hill burial
ground.
