1806;  Settled in Clockville, Madison Co., N.Y.  (Pioneers of Madison Co., N.Y.)

March 1814; A company of militia was raised in the town of Lenox for duty in and around Sackets Harbor as it was feared that the English would attack this place from Canada.  Sylvester Beecher was commissioned captain of this company which became a part of the 74th regiment of Infantry on March 19, 1814 by Daniel P. Tompkins, Governor of the state.  (Historical Madison Co. article from the Canastota Bee Journal newspaper)

September 12, 1814;  While on duty at Sackets Harbor, the company contained 64 men, 24 of which were from the village of Clockville and the vicinity.  Sergeant - Reuben Parkhill.  (HIstorical Madison Co. article, Canastota Bee Journal newspaper.)

Reuben purchased 11 and three-quarter acres of lot 6 of Bartholmay Forbes September 11, 1833.  This joined his later purchase and was acquired at the time of Clockville-Canastota Road was opened. Sold to William R. Reese April 1, 1864. Reese sold about 1880 to James Williamson. Harrison Hollenbeck bought the farm of Williamson's heirs. He has also lately acquired the Capt. Bartolmay Forbes farm of 50 acres

1850;  Census of New York shows;
Reuben, age 67, farmer with $3,000.00 property, born Massachusetts.  A large farm and house

  July 11, 1850;  Reuben and Margaret sold to Nathan Cady for $90.00 a part of lot # 11 of the 1802 Oneida Purchase - beginning at the southeast corner of Reuben Parkell's land and lands of Silas Spaulding near Parkhill Hill and near lands of Sylvester Beecher.  (Madison Co.   July 15, 1850;  "For and in consideration of Two Hundred twelve dollars to me in hand paid by the Canastota and Morrisville Plank Road Company, me the undersigned Silas Spaulding and Polly M. Spaulding do hereby sell, assign, release, and convey to said Company, sufficient and necessary lands and right of way for the use of said Company upon and over which to construct build and repair the Plank Road of said Company, Such lands and right of way to be held and used by the said Company to their need for the purpose aforesaid forever Said lands, right of way and road, to run acrop and over lands now owned by and occupied by me in the town of Lenox, Madison County at Clockville and lying south and adjoining the household farm of Reuben Parkill and to be four rods wide and to run on a line as levelled and staked out by Dewitt C. Roberts, said line so staked out being the centre of said right of way, and constitutes a departure of digression from the County road line of said Plank Road as surveyed by Thomas Barlow & running round westerly and in avoidance and relief of the so called Parkill Hill said Company to have the right of immediate possession and use of said lands & right of way fully released of all damages thereupon, for the consideration aforesaid, Signed, Sealed and delivered this 4th day of May A.D. 1850.  Silas Spaulding (L.S.) Polly M. Spaulding....."

  June 22, 1864;  Sold property to William F. Reese in Madison Co., New York.   (Madison Co. Deeds book CU page 331)

  February 23,1865; bought Champney house and lot from Fannie Avery and later gave it to daughter, Maria.  (Madison Co. Deeds)

  1864;  sold farm in Clockville to Will Reese who in turn sold to Mr. Williamson.  After a few years to Harrison Hollenbeck who lived there until his death a few years after the death of his wife Sarah.   His son George lived there until killed by a car accident at Clark's Corners - the farm passed to his son Louis and later was sold to Floyd Hertel.  On Floyd's death the farm was sold to Harold Rice but Floyd's wife Dorothy retained life use of the house.  Rice sold to Rick McConnell with Dorothy still occupying the house.  McConnell built some houses and sold off a few lots before selling remainder to Alan Sterling (Dorothy still occupying the house).  (History and Pictures of Houses in Clockville, New York)
