Will of Nathaniel Clayes

In the name of God, Amen - this tenth daye of September in the eleventh yeare of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lord, Charles by the Grace of God - King of England, Scotland, France and Irish defender of the faithe.
Nathaniel Clays of Colchester in the county of Essex, clothier – being sick in body but of good and perfect remembrance - Thanks be to Almighty God: doe make and ordain this my last will and testament revoaking all other wills whatsoever formerly by me made.
Item first - I bequeath my sould into the handes of Allmightie God my creator, and to Jesus Christ my onely Saviour and redeemer through whose death and I hope only to be saved.
Item - bequeathe unto Jane, my wyffe, all that howse or tenament wherein I now live during her naturall lyfe and after her dease my wille is that my howse shall be and remaine unto Isack Wilkinson and Christopher Walters my grandchildren and to the heires of theine bodies - the benifitt thereof to be equally devided betwene them.  If Isack shall happen to dye and leave noe issue behind him, then my will is that his parte of the howse shall be unto Elizabeth Wilkinson, hissister and to the heires of her body iff she shall happen to dye without issue, then my will is that that parte of the howse shall be to Jane Wilkinson, and to heires forever.
Item and further it is my will that if Christopher Wilkinson my grandchild shall dye without issue then his parte of the howse shall be unto his sister Ann Walter and to the heires forever of her body - iff the said Ann Walter shall happen to dye without issue then my will is that theire parts of the howse shall be and remayne unto her brother William Walter and to his heires forever - he and they whom it shall appertaine continuoallykeping the said house in sufficient reprations at all tymes and need require.
Item - I give unto Jane my wyffe all the rest of my goods and moveables within dones and without debts - ready moneyes - Linnen - Woolen - beding - brasse and pewter, and whatsoever as is unbequeaved to her and to her heires forever bringing my body comely and decently to the ground - discharging my funerall and such charges as belong thereunto; and finally I doe make Jane my wyffe and Isack Wilkinson, my sonne in lawe my two Executors to see this my will performed in witness of a truth with onne owne hand - I have written this my last will and testament and thereuntohave set my hand and seale the daye and yeare first written above.
