Generation No. 1

1.  THOMAS1 MILLS1 died Aft. 1681 of Berwick, York Co., Maine2.  He married MARY WADLEIGH, daughter of JOHN WADLEIGH.
"Among the early settlers was Thomas MILLS who came from Saco in 1650 and married Mary, the daughter of John WADLEIGH. WADLEIGH, on the 31st day of March 1650 had received a grant of land from Sagamore Thomas CHABINOCKE with the consent of his mother, Ramanasche, to whom the said WADLEIGH had given a consideration. A part of this grant was later conveyed to Mary MILLS, WADLEIGH's daughter, and comprised about 200 acres lying between Sam AUSTIN's lot and the lot that was formerly WADLEIGH's.  MILLS owned the neck of land at the beach where the Atlantic house once stood and being a fisherman no doubt lived on the beach near the fisherman's cove.  ("Caleb KIMBALL of Wells, Maine 1680-1755" by James L. July 12, 1681:  "I Thomas Mills of Wells...give my beloved sonn in law John Cloyce of Wells....two Acres of Sault Marsh liing in Wels....Thomas Mills his seal.  Witnesses: John Wheelewright, William Frost   (York Probate Records 3:105)

2. ii. SARAH MILLS, d. Aft. 1701, of Charlestown, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts.
