John Partridge

One of first to take up residence in that part of Medfield lying west of Charles river, and was active in having it set off as the town of Medway, in 1713. (Partridge Genealogy)

1680;  Medfield, MA voted to grant 50 acres of land for a mill on the Charles River, and to exempt the mill from taxes for seven years.  It was built at the Bent, now Rockville by; John Metcalf Sr., John Partridge Sr., Samuel Morse, Edward Adams, Joseph Allen, John Metcalf Jr., Nathaniel Allen, George Barber, Ephraim Wight, Samuel Barber, John Plympton, and Benjamin Wheelock.   This mill was burned prior to 1685 by John Sunchamaug, an Indian who was prosecuted.  (History of Norfolk Co., Massachusetts - D. November 23, 1713;  John Rocket, Jonathan Adams Sr., Sergt. Samuel Partridge, and Sergt Jonathan Adams and Edward Clark on committee to procure the meetinghouse built.  Abraham Harding Sr., John Partridge and Theophilus Clark to get up a petition to the town clerk of Medfield to procure accomodations for the setting of the meeting house upon the place commonly called the Bare Hills, and some place for the ministry thereabouts.   (History of Norfolk Co., Massachusetts - D.
