Continental Army paid accounts ($8.00 per month) for service from April 1, 1777 to December 31, 1779. Same company and regiment at Albany, N.Y., February 9, 1778. Accounts paid for January 1, 1780 to April 1, 1780. Captain Amos Perry's company, Colonel Abner Perry's regiment, marched to Rhode Island July 28, 1780, discharged April 8, 1780 - 14 days service including 3 days march home (60 miles). for Rev. War service, at Boston, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts."On the 1st
day of April 1777 he enlisted at Natick in Massachusetts in the Continental
Line in a company commanded by Captian Joseph Morse of said Natick, in
a regiment commanded by Colonel Rufus Putnam of Brookfield. Ezra Newell
of Lynn was Liet. Col. and John Trotter, Adjt. General John Nixon
of Natick commanded the Brigade. The company immediately started
from Natick and marched to Worcester which was the general place of rendezvousfor
the regiment. after remaining here three or four weeks, the regiment marched
to Fort Edward in New York and there joined the army under General Schyuler
who fell back to Still water, there General Gates took the command.
They then advanced to Saratoga, and after several severe engagements captured
General Burgoyne. This deponent was stationed in a cornfield and
was near General Arnold at the time he was wounded in the heel. The
ensuing winter he was quartered at Albany, afterwards was stationed at
West Point. The remainder of the time was spent at White Plains,
Fishkill, and other posts in New York and in marching from place to place.
He was engaged in several skirmishes and at the close of his enlistment
went to Bemis Heights where he received his discharge from Lieutenent
Co. Newell, then the commanding officer. He was in no severe engagement
except those at Saratoga.
He served the whole period of his enlistment which
was for three years. His pay was eight dollars a month. When
he enlisted, he resided at Sherburn in the County of Middlesex and Commonwealth
aforesaid. He was born at Sherborn August 2, 1760. He hereby
relinquishes every claim whatever....."
