1. JAMES1 PARKHILL1,2,3 was born Abt. 1750 in Ireland4,5,6, and died 1838 in Fort Loudon, Peters Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania7,8,9. He married JANE. She was born in Ireland. Came to Pennsylvania ca 1774
February 19, 1833; A letter of this date, written
in Pennsylvania;
"Personally appeared before me the Subscriber one
of the Associate Judges Court of Common pleas for the said county
of Franklin James Parkhill now in the eighty third year of his age who
being duly sworn according to law doth make the following Declaration on
his oath in order to obtain the benefit of the provisions of the Act passed
the 7th of June 1832. That he joined the company commanded by Captain
William Horton he marched as a corporal with ____ Lancaster, Philadelphia,
Trenton and on to the army commanded by General Washington. Thah
he left home about the beginning of July 1776 his term of service was for
six months. General Ewing was the commanding officer of the corps
which was called the Flying Camp. Frederick Watt was a Colonel.
He was called to serve a militia tour he thinks in the year 1779.
That he could not serve at the time but hired a substitute who was not
called at the time and paid him and makes no doubt but he done his duty.
The call was for two months. And further that he was born in Ireland, that
he came to America in the year 1772 and in 1774 came to the neighborhood
where he now lives, which is near Landon (?) in Peters township Franklin
Co. State of Pennsylvania and he hereby reliquishes any prior claim to
a pension or annuity except the present and that his name is not on any
pension roll iin this or any other state.

Ans. I have not a record of my age but
think I am in my eighty third year.
Quest. Where were you living when
called into service where have you lived since and where are you now living.
Ans. I have lived in the neighborhood
where I now live since the year 1774.
Quest. how were you called into
service were you drafted did you volunteer or were you a substitute
Ans. I was a volunteer
Quest. State the names of some of the
regular officers who were with the troops where you served Such companies
and militia regiments as you can remember and the General commanders of
your service
Ans. We were under the command of General Ewing
and with the army of the Flying Camp Colonel Frederick Watt was our Colonel
and with the army under the command of General Washington
State the names of persons to whom you are known in
your neighborhood who can testify as to your character for _____ and belief
of your services in the Revolution.

on oath saith - that he joined for six months marched the first of
June 1776 our Captain was William _urton and James Parkhill the written
applicant joined the company at the same time and served the six months
I was in In ___ ___ called the Flying Camp the Regiment was commanded
by Major Je ______ Wat General Ewing was the Brigadier General James Parkhill
returned home at the end of the six months and this deponent volunteered
for a month longer

he has known James Parkhill for more than fifty years. When Captain William
Houston's Company started, he joined the army and he believes that James
Parkhill was one of said Company, and makes no doubt but his statement
made in the foregoing is correct and may be believed.

1 certify that I was an Ensign in Colonel Watt's Regiment
of what was called the Flying Camp, that Captain Houston belonged to said
Regiment in the Summer and Campaign of 1776, that not being very intimate
in Captain Houston's Company, could not swear that Mr. Parkhill belonged
to it, but having a strong impregnation that he did. He lived, I know,
in the same neighborhood with Captain Houston, and I have little doubt
but what he has said is strictly true.

In the name of God, amen. I, James Parkhill of Peters
Township, Franklin County and State of Pennsylvania, being weak in body
but of sound and disposing mind and considering the certainty of death
and the uncertainty of the time thereof, and being desirous to settle my
worldly affairs and the better prepared to leave this world when it shall
please Almighty God to call me hence do therefore make and constitute this
my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say:
First and principally, I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God,
and my body to the earth to be decently buried at
the discretion of my executors hereinafter named, and after my just debts
and
funeral expenses are paid, I devise and bequeath as
follows ---
Item Ist I give and devise unto my son James fifty
dollars, and unto his son Washington I give and devise one hundred dollars
to be applied towards his education and to them and there heirs forever
---
Item 2nd 1 give and devise unto my son John one hundred
dollars to him and his heirs forever, he said John first paying and lifting
a note jointly given by him and myself to William Pyman for one hundred
dollars it being for his use alone --

Item 4th 1 give and devise to my son Samuel and daughter
Nancy all my estate, real and personal, that is all my personal property

description that I may be possessed of at the time

acres more or less to them, they said Samuel and Nancy,
their heirs and assigns forever in the following manner: They are to share
and share alike, my son Samuel to have one half and my daughter Nancy the
other half, they first paying my just debts and the above mentioned legacies
It is also my will that my legatees above named shall
not have power to sue or recover their respective legacies for the term
of two years from the time of my death, nor is the said legacies to bear
interest in any way for the said term of two years, but the above named
legatees are to take their legacies in such payments as said Samuel and
Nancy may be able to make during the term of two years ---
And lastly, I hereby constitute and appoint my daughter
Nancy executrix and my son Samuel executor with full powers to sell any
part or the whole of my said estate both real And personal as they shall
think proper in order to execute this, my Last Will and Testament, and

in Guernsey County, Ohio30,31. He married ELIZABETH
CAMPBELL February 13, 1810 in Mercerburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania.
She was born Abt. 1791 in Pennsylvania. During the War of 1812, he served
in Captain Beatt's Company. After 1820, he moved to a farm near Concord,
Adams Township, Guernsey County, Ohio
His Will was filed in October of 1838 and his wife
was still living there as late at the 1860 census

In the name of God, Amen. I James Parkhill of Adams
Township, Guernsey County, and State of Ohio, being weak in body but of
sound mind and memory thanks be to Almighty God for the same, do make and
publish this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form and following
that is to say:
First: It is my will that my funeral expenses and
all my just debts be fully paid.
Second: I give and devise and bequeath to my beloved
wife Elizabeth Parkhill the one thirds, or in other words, all that is
set off according to law to widows, and house with fifty dollars.
Third: I give to my second son James Five hundred
dollars over and above his share in said estate to be paid at the settling
of said estate.
Fourth: I give and devise to my children, that is
to say, Washington, Jane, John, Andrew, Samuel, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Nancy,
Eleanor, share and share alike after the above five hundred dollars paid
to my second son James.
And Lastly: I hereby constitute and appoint John Dickson
and Robert Marshall Executors of this, my Last Will and Testament, revoking
and annulling all former Wills by me made and ratifying and confirming
this and no other to be my last Will and Testament.

She was born March 10, 1845 in Kentucky, and died November 28, 1896.
His parents moved to Gurnsey County, Ohio when he was very young. After
1864 he moved with his family to Hamilton County, Illinois. He is buried
beside his first wife at Middle Creek Cemetery, Hamilton County, Illinois
He was the father of thirteen children by his first

Final rites
for Mrs. Isabel Tolley, 93, Delafield, were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m.
from the Gholson funeral home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Clair Clark
officiating. Internment was in the IOOF Cemetery. Mrs Tolley died at 8:30
a.m. Friday, December 27, 1957. Despite her advanced age, her death came
unexpectedly. Bom May 18, 1864 In New Harmony, Ohio, she was the daughter
of Mr and Mrs John Parkhill. Her husband, Daniel Morgan Tolley, and one
daughter, Mrs Mary Walden, preceeded her in death. She was a member of
the Bethel Methodist Church. Survivors include four sons: Henry Tolley
McLeansboro Ernest Tolley Dalgren Clarence Tolley Marion Lawrence
Tolley Ponchatoula, Louisiana Three daughters: Mrs Hazel Morris,
McLeansboro Mrs Chloe Maulding, St Louis Mrs. Nora Emerson, McLeansboro

Henry Tolley, 77, died at his home in Delafield Wednesday, May 31, 1961
at 4:10 am. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Friday at the Delafield
Baptist Church where he was a member. Rev. Rudolph Schiag and Rev. Russell
Monroe will officiate. Burial will be in the Blooming Grove Cemetery. Mr
Tolley was born in Hamilton County December 13, 1883, the son of Daniel
? Isabel (Parkhill) Tolley. On August 10, 1907, he was married to Lillie
Green who survives He attended the Hamilton County schools.Surviving besides

the Hamilton Memorial Hospital Funeral services will be held today (Thursday)
at 1:00 p.m. in the Delafield Baptist Church of which she was a member.
Rev. Timothy Lee will officiate. Burial will be in the Blooming Grove Cemetery.
Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs
Emerson was born August 5, 1888 in Hamilton County, the daughter of Daniel
? Isabelle (Parkhill) Tolley. She was married to Aaron Emerson. He preceded
her in death.

Alma Parkhill's account to Howard Parkhill's death. George Parkhill was
at work at the barber shop when this happened. Howard always wanted to
help his mother with her chores and finally begged her into letting him
draw her some water from the well to wash clothes with. She let him go
get the water. She had spilled some water on the ledge of the well when
she had gone to get the previous bucket of water and it was frozen when
Howard went to get the water out of the well. He slipped and fell in and
drowned in the well.
