There is some speculation, backed by circumstantial
evidence that this David is the same David that appears later in North
Carolina. See below. If anyone can help substantiate this belief, please
let me know!
" It was noted in the Thomas Brandon Parkhill Family
Bible of Charlene Parkhill Hayes that David Parkhill, was born May 10,
1774. This was the same date that David Parkhill the son of Nathaniel
Parkhill was born in Massachuetts. David Parkhill died February 24,
1844 in Guntersville, Marshall County, Alabama. His wife Martha Wassham
(Worsham) was born Dec. 10, 1783.
This David Parkhill, who was assumed to have
died early, did not die, but left Massachusetts and went to Tennessee."
"He left Massachusetts for some reason and migrated
to Washington County, North Carolina. Three he met the Worsham family.
The Worshams were originally from Pittsylvania County, Virginia.
They later moved to Blount County, Tennessee where David married Martha
Worsham on August 8, 1799., according to the Bible record. If you find
the Marriage Records of Blount County, Tennessee, it shows her name as
Martha Wassham.
Martha was born December 10, 1783 to Jeremiah and
Ann McDowell Worsham. An interesting note shows the following regarding
the marriage bond of David and Martha. The following is from the License
Bond of James and Martha:
State of Tennessee Blount County
"Know all men by these presents, that we David Parkhill
and John Trimble both of the County and State afore said, are jointly and
successively
held and firmly bound unto John Sevier-----governor
or his successor in office in the----sum of twelve hundred and fifty dollars,
void on the
condition there be no lawful objection why David Parkhill
and Martha Wassham should not be joined in the holy state of matrimony.
Witness our
hands and seal this 22nd day of August, 1799."
Attest
David Parkhill
John Trimble"
From the notes of James Parkhill, descendant of
David and Martha Worsham.
