BETTY CURTIS was born Abt. 1754, of Ripton (Huntington), Fairfield Co., Connecticut, and died January 17, 1843 in Machias, Cattaragus Co., New York.  She married (1) SERGEANT NATHAN THOMPSON October 01, 1780 in Huntington, Fairfield Co., Connecticut by Rev. David Ely, Congregational rector. They moved to Ferrisburgh, Addison Co., Vermont where Nathan died.  She married (2) AARON WARNER April 18, 1798 in Addison, Addison Co., Vermont.  By 1839 she was residing in Machias, Cattaragus Co., New York with her daughter Betsy Thompson Ashcraft's family.

I Thomas Curtis of Nazing in the countie of Essex Yeoman being sick in bodie hole in mind and of pfecte remembrance thanks be the ffather of our Lord Jesus Christe this l3th of December Ano Dni 1604 doe make and ordeine this my laste Will and Testamente in mannr and forme followinge viz ffyrst and princepally I Comend my Sowle to God who gave mee it in assurance of the eternall peace of it throughe fayth in Christe my saviour and my bodye to be buried at the discrecon of my Executrixe. Itm I give unto my Daughter Martha one fether bede. Item I give unto my Daughter Mary one other ffeather bede. Item I give unto my Daughter Elizabeth the cubboard in the old parlor. 4.  WILLIAM3 CURTIS (THOMAS2, WILLIAM1)7 was born of Nazing, Essex, England7, and died Abt. 1634 in Roxbury, Massachusetts8.  William Curtis, who came in the ship Lion in 1632, was the settler at Roxbury and father of William and John who settled in Stratford, and he died at Roxbury near the end of the year 1634. He came to America, leaving his family in England. In the spring of 1634 they came and joined him at Roxbury, where his name appears frequently in the records as a land holder. He died about eight months after they came.  His children were William, Thomas, Mary, John and Phillip. Thomas Ufford came in the ship Lion in 1632 with William Curtis, Sen., and he and Curtises probably came in company to Stratford.  (History of Stratford, CT)

29.  SARAH5 CURTIS (EBENEZER4, WILLIAM3, JOHN2, WILLIAM1)84 was born April 07, 170284.  She married THEOPHILUS NICHOLS84.THEOPHILUS NICHOLS:  February 11, 1684; James Blakeman, miller extraordinaire, "doth hereby promise, and engage himself to build or cause to be built a Corn Mill at ye mouth of ye near mill River (now Peck's Mill Pond) and doth engage himself to well and seasonably grind ye town's corn such as shall see to send there corn to his mill."  He was committed to finish his mill by the start of next year, and to create a dam wide enough for a cart road.  Less than three years later, on Christmas Eve, 1686, Blakeman swapped the mill with Ambrose Thompson for a share of the action in new Woodbury plantation.  Blakeman didn't live to reach Woodbury, but the mill remained in the Thompson family for over seventy-five years, until Ambrose's grandson Ebenezer sold it to Theophilus Nichols, who turned it over to his son-in-law, Hezekiah Wells. For 500 pounds Hezekiah picked up the mill, the pond, and twenty-nine acres with a house,and barn.   (In Pursuit of Paradise - Knapp)
