At town meeting the town voted to raise 100 pounds for the purpose of building
a new meeting house. James was chosen to join a committee to agree
with the workman to build the house. The controversy over where this
should be built extended over a period of 10 years. One of the sites
selected did not meet the approval of one of the leading citizens of the
town, so he confiscated the timbers and built himself a barn. The General
Court was called on to settle the matter, but it was not until March 25,
1734 that an amicable settlement was made. Next year the house was
built. (Encyclopedia of New England Families) 1730 - 1735; Town selectman. (Encyclopedia of New

Conference Center Land
This land is located on the corner of Salem End Road and Badger Road,
and has an interesting history. It was formerly owned by Mr. and Mrs. Charles
F. Adams, and was known as Wedgemere Farm. Mr. Adams was a noted sportsman
and business leader. He raised horses on the property and in his other
activities, he brought professional hockey to Boston - the Bruins. He was
one of the original sponsers of Suffolk Downs and Wonderland, and he was
also president of the Boston Braves.
The Conference Center property dates back many years in the town's history,
back to the settlement of the town. Ebenezer Harrington, who came to Framingham
in 1709, bought the property from Joseph Buckminster. The latter was the
grantee of the residue of the Danforth grant which included practically
all of Framinham Centre, west of the Sudbury River. This grant was made
in May 1693. (from Framingham Historical Reflections p. 113-14. About
