  • HAGINS, Col. William [Died 1790 and buried at Old Six Mile according to his grandson]

  • SARAH MORROW married JOHN MCKNIGHT COFFEY. Their son JAMES MORROW COFFEY born October 09, 1805 married Eliza Alexander. They became the parents of two sons; Rufus Alexander Coffey and Benjamin Morrow Coffey, born abt. 1842. It was BENJAMIN MORROW COFFEY who served with the Eleventh North Carolina Regiment, Pettigrew's Brigade, which led the advance on Gettysburg from the west on July 1, 1863. A shrapnel almost severed his left leg. While he was lying on the battlefield, a bullet grazed his right eye, blinding it forever. Doctors were forced to amputate his wounded leg some time later. On August 1, the company commander wrote a letter of commendation: "Benny was such a good boy;...a better soldier never lived" His comrades testified to his concern for spiritual values. He died at the age of seventy-four. Benjamin returned from war to marry his childhood sweetheart,Lucinda Robinson. (from Billy Graham's autobiography)When Benjamin's third daughter was born, he named her Morrow after himself when he saw he would probably never have a son. Benjamin and Lucinda Robinson were the parents of three daughters; HATTIE married Andrew Bailes and had a daughter Mildred Bailes, ANNIE LEE unknown, and MORROW COFFEY, born 1892 was the youngest daughter. MORROW married WILLIAM FRANKLIN GRAHAM in 1916. Grandmother Lucinda Robinson Coffey, on her death bed, sat up and almost laughingly said, "I see Jesus. He has his arms outstretched toward me. And there's Ben! He has both of his eyes and both of his legs." Most of this family is buried in the Steele Creek Presbyterian Cemetery in Charlotte, NC
