CALEB MARTIN

Caleb Martin wss the first child of Henry S and Chloe Boswell Martin. He was born in Talbot Co., Maryland and moved to Washington County, Tennessee with his siblings and parents most likely around 1810. They settled on Blackley Creek in the southwest side of Washington County near the old Hwy 81. Caleb married Sally Beard (sometimes written as "Bird" which was most likely mispronounced to sound like Bird. Her parents were Robert Beard from Virginia migrating about the same time to Washington County and his first wife Sally Mitchell. After her death he married Martha Buchanan ; little is known about the children of Caleb and Sally ; their son Henry A Martin was born about 1816 in Washington County leaving many descendants all over Washington County. Caleb is buried in Fairview Cemetery and today his rock or stone is completely gone. Charles Bennett list Caleb buried 1842 and an M.M.A Martin died 1842 is next to Caleb....Nearby is Lewis Talbot Martin family with a new stone ..... Lewis may have been the son of Joseph Martin and most likely a cousin to our Henry S Martin? These families seem to migrate together but scattered in different directions in later generations. Most were living in the vicinity of south Washington County and close proximity to each other. There were some Martins in the eastern side of Washington County near Elizabethton and Erwin that I have not been able to connect. So much research to do and it all takes time
