BELLE WALKER THORNBURG

Belle was the third daughter of Henry Martin and Amanda Jane Bacon Walker

  • 1. Blanche Thornburg
  • 2. Allie Thornburg
  • 3. Henry Walker Thornburg
  • She married Charlie Thornburg about 1894 and three children were born to them; Blanche, Allie, and Henry Walker Thornburg. They lived in the Hales Community on the Boones Creek Road near Jonesborough. I remember going with daddy and Aunt Amy Walker Bowman to the auction. This would have been about 1956 and daddy bought a milk separator and I got the idea to make it into a flower planter. Sad to say I never did make it and to this day I am not sure where the milk separator is? I have seen some at Cracker Barrel. Charlie outlived Belle who died about 1930's. Both are buried at Sulphur Springs Cemetery with daughter Blanche. Allie left Tennessee and went to Iowa and Illinois where she met Clyde Bacon and married and had one son. Clyde and Allie would be cousins and great grandchildren of Thomas and Sarah Barron Bacon. Henry Walker or Walker Thornburg as he was called. I have just made contact with grandchildren of Walker. Walker being an only son had a friend John Milton Fulkerson who lived near and John Milt was an only son ; both boys had sisters so Walker and John Milt lived together 'cause I have a family picture of Charlie and Belle and the family and there is John Milton Fulkerson with the family. John Milton Fulkerson in later years bought the Samuel Hunt home place and his widow Pearl Kincheloe Fulkerson lived there until her nursing home days. Charlie Thornburg married a second time to Margie Basket 1900- 1978 and she is buried at Pleasant Grove Methodist Cemetery. Uncertain who her Basket family was but most likely connect to William and Mary Brown Walker ; however, there were Baskets living near Boones Creek Road and buried at Boones Creek Christian Church Cemetery
