Will of Andrew Walker dated 8 May 1869 with J W Hartman and Payne Squibb as witnesses reads : Zachariah pay Nancy Ann Keys $300.00, Zachariah pay Susannah Jones $100. Henry to get the homestead; Zachariah the land where he now lives; mentions sons John B and William
Andrew Walker was the youngest son of William and Susannah Graham Walker. Andrew was born February 04, 1805 and died May 09, 1869 in Washington County, Tennessee. He married Sarah Brown, daughter of Redheaded John Brown and Nancy Smith Brown, on May 01, 1833. William seemed to be extremely generous to Andrew the youngest son; but then Andrew being the youngest son and the last to leave home didn't go far 'cause it seems he lived close by to his parents and thirteen years after marrying his father died and left in his will that Andrew was to look after his mother and sister Susannah. William was established on the earlier home place near what today is called Pleasant Grove. John had establishment on the ridge east in Sulphur Springs. Caleb Martin a neighbor was son of Henry S. & Chloe Boswell Martin and married to Sally Beard daughter of Robert Beard. Levi Nelson may be the father or brother of Ruth Nelson who married Elias Martin, younger brother of Caleb Martin. William lived 5 years after making his will ; 1841-1846 ; but where are William, Susannah & Susannah the daughter buried?
The photo above I truly think is Nancy Ann and Susannah Walker daughters of Andrew & Sarah Brown Walker. The other woman must be Susannah Walker sister to Andrew Walker. They are standing on the porch of the Andrew Walker home which was also the homestead of William & Susannah Graham Walker. Check out the Walker house picture below. I am convinced the house is the same Walker house still standing today having been remodeled many times through the ages. There were several owners from William & Susannah Graham Walker to Andrew Walker, Cox, Rupe, Bridwell, Kennerly and maybe others? I would love to make contact with any of the above descendants of Andrew and Sarah Brown Walker. I know there are many more unknown to me The following are pictures of the William and Susanah Graham Walker house located in Sulphur Springs. The house originally faced the knob and the creek with a road running along side of the creek and at the bottom of the knob. Many years later a new road was built which went right through the Walker land and what a turmoil that caused between brothers and cousins. When did William and Susannah move from Blackley Creek to Sulphur Springs? About 1830? Where were Nancy, John, William, Anna, Andrew, Margaret and Susanah born? Most likely down on what is today McCall Rd
In 1860 John Brown Walker and Margaret Keys Walker were living in Washington Co. and William was a millwright. Census of 1870 has not been found and that was about the time that John B was in Knoxville, Tennessee as a "fugitive" Census of 1880 finds first born son John and Margaret "Maggie" Keys Walker living in Greene Co., TN. Later records have been found that show John Brown Walker acted as a lawyer for Hannah Hale Cox family. Maybe John Brown Walker was going to college in Knoxville getting more education while a "fugitive" in Knoxville
Census of 1900 in Greene Co., TN
