everything was surveyed)

Mulkey departed this life September 26, 1882 aged 76 yrs 7 ms and 15 ds "Why lament the Christians dying, Why indulge in his tears or gloom, Calmly on his Lord relying, He has met the opening tomb. Hark the golden harps are ringing, Sounds celestial feel his ear, Millions now in heaven singing, Great his joyful entrance there".

"Erected in memory of W.E. Thomas founder of Old Mulkey Meeting House State Shrine born in Monroe Co., KY April 13, 1875 died Nov 5, 1943 while ministering to the soldiers at Fort Knox. He served faithfully as a minister of the Methodist Church for more than fifty years, as pastor, evangelist and missionary. He glorified God, honored the church and served his fellowman. He gave freely of his time, talents and substance for the care of orphan children. He left the world better than he found it. He looked for the best in others and gave the best he had. His life was an inspiration and his memory a benediction".

After driving from Murfreesboro, Tennessee it was time for lunch and the Mulkey Meeting House had picnic tables & grills out front of the meeting house. A nice spot in the shade for us to have our lunch and to rest a spell and remember those gone on
