LETITIA ELLIS GRAY

Letitia Tabitha Ellis was born November 18, 1829 to Jacob M and Letitia Cowan Ellis at Boones Creek, Washington Co., Tennessee. Letitia, Mary and Rebecca were the minor daughters of Jacob mentioned in his will 1838 where he makes provisions for them. Lettie as she was called married Robert H. Gray as his second wife


Robert Hale Gray was the son of James Gray and Mary Polly Bright. Robert and father, James, were both born in Washington County, TN. Rachel Baskette his first wife was born in 1823 and died before 1857. She and Robert Hale Gray had the following children: John, Landon, James, Mary E., and Elbert Gray.
After Rachel died, Robert married Letitia Ellis December 3, 1857 with James Miller MG leading the rights of marriage ; license gotten December 1, 1857. they had the following children: Samuel, Jacob, Rebecca J., and Harvey H. Gray

  • 5. George William "Willie" Gray born November 28, 1871 died June 28, 1896 burial Hales Chapel Christian Cemetery

    • ROBERT HALE GRAY CEMETERY has eight graves ; not sure if Lettie is buried there...no grave was seen for her. The cemetery is on Spurgeons Lane in Gray, Tennessee
