James Shreve was one of the younger sons of William and Freelove Dyer Shreve. James and Benjamin are listed in their brother William's will so I would say James was one of the last sons to leave home for western Virginia and Kentucky. James was born about 1737 Little Compton, Rhode Island and he died about 1790 near Harrison Co., Virginia (later West Virginia)
