Is this our Robertson crest. I found online while searching in Glenshee, Perthshire, Scotland for parents of George Robertson our great great grandfather. George left Scotland probably around 1830 and made his way to Waterford, Ireland where he married Barbara Sharp about 1838. They had three daughters; Jane, Barbara and Helena. November 17, 1856 they arrived in New York arriving on the De Witt Clinton Ship which departed from Liverpool, England. Their origin was Ireland
Thanks to a Find A Grave enthusiast I have found the Robertson sisters all buried together in the Comrie Plot at Springvale Cemetery at E. Providence, Rhode Island. It is nice to know they are all together in eternity. I am also full of questions about why Barbara went off to Scotland to live for several years and then made the journey to Balclutha, New Zealand for 8 years?
It was in Manhattan, New York that daughter Barbara married to Thomas Warden who had immigrated from Birmingham, England to New York. Jane Robertson was her sister's attendant. Thomas Humphery served as best man. At the time of their marriage Thomas was living on Greenwich Street and Barbara was living on Bleeker Street ; the two streets are separated by Hudson Street
A recent find was Jane and Helena living next door to each other a little farther away in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York. Now I wonder if George Robertson was living somewhere near them in 1870?
Between 1873 and 1875 we find the family living on Richardson Street in East Providence, Rhode Island. Sometime between 1876 and 1880 Barbara takes the boys and goes to Scotland then in the fall of 1882 Barbara and the boys are off to Balclutha, New Zealand but who went with them? Grandpa George Robertson, Aunt Jane?
Two sons were born to Thomas and Barbara around 1871 and 1872-73 but no birth records are to be found in New York State. Recent information from the Archives of Rhode Island have a death for Thomas Warden died November 23, 1875 on Richardson St. East Providence, Rhode Island. His occupation was jeweler age 33 years and two months. He died of an aneurism of the aorta. Barbara died June 24, 1899 in Brooklyn, New York and was transported by Geo Weaver undertaker to Providence, RI June 29, 1899. George Robertson had a brother to migrate to New Zealand in 1856. James Robertson born about 1805 settled in Balclutha, New Zealand with his wife Margaret Ayson and children ; Barbara Robertson Warden was living in Balclutha where her boys receive eight years of education. We know Barbara was in Scotland before going to the south island of New Zealand ; So now what prompted Barbara to take her boys and go to Balclutha, New Zealand. Bet cha' she was into genealogy and wanted to trek to see the uncle. I wonder if Jane may have gone too but not sure about Helena? I am thinking George Robertson may have gone back to Scotland about 1870 and when Thomas Warden died in 1875 Barbara is left with one or two small boys so she makes the move to Scotland to live with her dad and raise the boys there. Recently found Charles Warden obit that says he spent several years in Scotland before moving to the south island of New Zealand. So now Barbara must have gone to Scotland about 1876-1877 and in August 1882 she leaves Glasgow for New Zealand. Did her father George Robertson die or did he too emigrate to New Zealand and Jane her sister may have gone to New Zealand as well? Still uncertain as to where grandpa George R Warden was born...either New York or possibly Scotland
Sometime around 1891 Barbara and George Robertson Warden return to New York but Charles Howard Warden remains in New Zealand where he received his college education from Dunedin College of Education in 1891 and became a teacher and head master? Did Barbara and George stay for Charles graduation and then return to New York? Charles and George never saw each other for the rest of their lives. No computers back then just old fashioned letter writings which we have found today thanks to cousins George Robertson Warden and Tom Warden Hastings Brooking. Barbara dies in June 1899 in Brooklyn, New York and is buried in Providence, Rhode Island. Her sister Jane Robertson had married and was living in New York in 1905. Helena was living in E. Providence, Rhode Island
James Robertson born 1805 Cray, Glenshee, Scotland died 1902 Warepa New Zealand married Margaret Ayson July 30, 1837 Kirkmichael, Perth, Scotland
Children of James and Margaret Ayson Robertson

ANN ROBERTSON sister to George and James married to JOHN GRAHAM and had one known daughter JANET GRAHAM who married to PETER GOW ; Janet had three sons and a daughter to emigrate to New Zealand about the same time that Barbara Robertson Warden emigrated to New Zealand
Some history of Scotland found on Google books; "Capture of Perth
