George Robertson Warden spent eight years in Balclutha, Otago, New Zealand where he obtained his education. Sometime about 1892 George with his mother made their way from New Zealand to Brooklyn, New York where George continued his secondary education. An older brother, Charles Howard Warden graduated from Dunedin College of Education in 1891 and lived in New Zealand the rest of his life. Charles was a pupil Teacher in 1886 at Mosgiel. Charles was in Palmerston North to Ohakune (near Wanganui) in 1918 and in 1921 he became Headmaster of Queens Park School until 1924 when he made the move to Wanganui East School as a senior schoolmaster until his death. Charles never saw his brother George but only communicated by letters from New Zealand to New York. Charles became the father of three daughters. George became the father of three sons. Their children were never to meet and to become acquainted. With the help of a New Zealand researcher and modern technology this may soon change and we will be able to connect with third cousins. The link below will take you to New Zealand and the places the Warden family lived in New Zealand. Today June 2009 I just found out that Thomas Warden husband of Barbara and father of Charles and George died November 23, 1875 in East Providence, Rhode Island. Thomas was a jeweler and died at age 33 yrs and two months of an aneurism of the aorta. Barbara died June 24, 1899 and was taken to E Providence, Rhode Island for burial ; now to find the cemetery where they are buried...all help greatly appreciated. We also partially know the reason for Barbara going to Balclutha, New Zealand was because of Robertson family most likely an Uncle James Robertson who took his family to Balclutha about 1856 the time that George Robertson took his family to Brooklyn

Warden of Brooklyn, N.Y HARRY NUNEZ WARDEN, 22 years old, a naval veteran of the World War, died in the New York Hospital on Tuesday as a result of influenza contacted while he was serving in the Mine Laying Division in the North Sea and from which he never fully recovered. His home was at 576 Seventh Street, Brooklyn Harry was engaged to be married to Emily von Auw, but he had influenza from the war and also came down with diabetes ; poor thing no wonder he stuffed himself; he was going to die and was to be married. Emily never married. Emily died in 1986 in New Mexico where she was an art instructor. Her brother Frederick von Auw died in Ft Lauderdale, Florida in 1984. Margaret E. von Auw Olson's son has come to my rescue and we have exchanged lots of information on Harry and Emilie. Thanks to public libraries across the country, we are continuing to learn more about Emilie. What a great loss to the Warden family ; if she had lived our family would be extended. How sad their love did not blossom with a marriage vonAuw--Miss Emilie von Auw, age 82 and a resident here 44 years died Friday in a local hospital following an illness.
