GEORGE HALE III CEMETERY

The George Hale III Cemetery may be better known by the name Freehill Cemetery located off Judson Dr. and Hwy 36. Freehill connects with the Old Stage Road and the Shipley Road and all lie between Hwy 36 and I-26 ; oh the history of our people that lies in these places


GEORGE HALE III was the son of GEORGE HALE II and NANCY ANNE GRANT HALE ; he was born December 16, 1766 in Baltimore, Maryland and died April 18, 1837 at Freehill, Washington Co., Tennessee

    Looking south from the cemetery you see what may have been Freehill and the Hale property and Freehill Road


    A great view of the Hale Cemetery and the area they lived in which is also near Cedar Creek, Possum Creek and Frog Level Road. I bet they ate a lot of Frog legs and maybe possum meat in those early days. I can just taste them now. And to think I grew up near here and never heard of these places until I was older and doing genealogy. Jeepers wish I had ask questions in my young days
