8. Catherine E. Mitchell born February 8, 1839 - April 11, 1910 married John Oscar Thomas March 1, 1875. John Oscar Thomas born September 11, 1854 - April 5, 1936
9. James Mitchell born 1841 - October 16, 1864 died of consumption/tuberculosis at the age of 23 during the Civil War. James enlisted in the Civil War on September 16, 1861 in Adair Co., Kentucky. Company G 9th Infantry Regiment, Kentucky on November 26, 1861. He fought in Georgia where his 9th Regiment helped the Union take Atlanta through a siege from July 22-August 25, 1864. That was the Battle so graphically depicted in "Gone With the Wind" .....
They then moved against General Hood in North Georgia and North Alabama
on October 1-26, 1864. He died on Oct. 16, 1864. James is buried in the Mitchell Cemetery in Monroe Co., Kentucky
10. Isaac Bacon born 1843 - December 29, 1861. He died of pneumonia at the age of sixteen. Isaac along with James enlisted in the Civil War on September 16, 1861 in Adair Co., Kentucky. November 26, 1861 he was in Company G 9th Infantry Regiment, Kentucky. He died at Columbia, Kentucky where the 9th Kentucky Infantry was organized
