Academy of the Fine Arts
The Academy of Fine Arts book from the Philadelphia Free Library had two pages of unknown artist portrait painters. In 1810 Abram J. Nunes was a limoner/portrait painter and a charter member of the Fine Arts Academy. Would it be possible that the following portraits may have been done by Abram J. Nunes?
If you have any comments on the portraits please send me mail jmwwardn!

Abram I Nunes was a Portrait-Painter in 1810 in Philadelphia
Is it a possibility that the above portraits may be some of Abram J. Nunes paintings? The portraits were found in the Warden family heirlooms. The younger portrait has the initials "JB" in fancy writing on the back and enclosed in a glass case looks like a lock of plaited dark brown hair. The frame looks like it might have been a pin to wear at one time. The older portrait is painted on thin egg-shell material. Maybe it is a self-portrait of Abram? The Nunez were descended from a Noble Castillian family originating in Portugal and North-East Spain and before that in Jerusalem when the Jewish people were "scattered to the ends of the earth."
