Norman Waldron
Norman Charles Waldron was born on 7 Apr 1920 at Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.1,2 He was the son of Joseph Waldron and Anna Matilda Dammeyer. Norman Charles Waldron died on 13 Sep 2003 at Massapequa, Nassau County, New York, at age 83.3 He was interred on 18 Sep 2003 at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, Suffolk County, New York, Section H/1 Site A/30.4
His nick name was Norm. Norman, Anna Matilda Dammeyer's child, resided with Anna, at 221 Heyward Street, Brooklyn, Kings County, New York, on 11 Apr 1930.5 At about age 10 he and his mother moved from 221 Heyward Street in Brooklyn to Richmond Hill in Queens County. They lived in an apartment above a butcher shop at 113-15 Liberty Avenue between 113th Street and 114th Street. His grandparents, Charles and Lina Dammeyer lived only a short distance away on114th Street.

His mother and Aunt Carrie purchased a small lot in Carmel, New York in the 1930's (?) for $59 and had an unheated bungalow built in it for $1,000. The family would visit during the summer and on holidays like Thanksgiving. It was finally sold when the war started, as there was nobody to go there any more.

Norman was inducted into the U.S. Army on 27 November 1942, and during World War II he served as a gunner on a B-24 bomber (named El Flako), in the 453rd Bomber Group of the 8th Air Force. He arrived in England the day before D-Day, June 6, 1944. He reached the rank of Staff Sergeant, and after returning from overseas served as an instructor in Laredo, Texas from January to October 1945. Virginia joined him in Laredo in April. They drove from New York to Laredo in a 1934 Ford that needed to have its brakes adjusted every couple of hundred miles, since they were operated by cables (not hydraulically as in newer cars).

Norman received an Honorable discharge on 17 October 1945. After the war he returned to work for the National Process Company (NAPCO) in New York City as an Apprentice Stripper (that's in the printing business). He ultimately worked for Floral Park Printing for many years as their Stripper, before retiring in 1985. The family moved from Richmond Hill to Massapequa, Long Island in March 1952.6 Norman was confirmed at age 13 on 19 Jun 1933 at Ozone Park, Queens County, New York, at St. James Lutheran Church. 7.8,9 Norman was employed as a printer at Floral Park Printing at Floral Park, Nassau County, New York, from about 1950 to 1985.2

William Henry Waldron ca. 1903
William Henry Waldron was born on 27 Aug 1852 in New York.1,2,3,4,5,6,7 He was the son of Charles A. Waldron and Sarah Jane Miller. He married Elizabeth F. Daniell, daughter of George F. Daniell and Margaret A. Cooper, on 13 Aug 1876 at the Willett St. Episcopal Church, New York City, New York County, New York.8,9 William Henry Waldron died on 4 Jan 1916 at St. Anthony's Hospital, Queens County, New York, at age 63 of pulmonary phthisis (T.B.).7 He was interred on 7 Jan 1916 at Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, Kings County, New York, Lot No. 10362.10,7
William Henry Waldron lived with Charles A. Waldron and Sarah Jane Miller in 1855 at the 11th Ward, 4th District, New York City, New York County, New York.11 William Henry Waldron resided with Charles and Sarah in New York City, New York, in 1860.12 William was a printer at New York City, New York County, New York, from 1870 until 1916.7 He resided with Charles and Sarah in New York City, New York County, New York, in 1870.13 It is interesting to note that in 1880 William and his father Charles lived on the same street in Brooklyn (Hudson Avenue). His occupation on his marriage record and in the 1870 and 1880 census is shown as printer. His granddaughter, Marilyn Gambardella, remembers hearing that he worked for the Brooklyn Daily Eagle.14 William Waldron is buried in the cemetery plot adjacent to Elizabeth Waldron and Joseph Waldron, which lot was originally purchased by Eliza Cooper. She was Elizabeth Daniell's mother's, so it appears that Elizabeth is buried in the plot purchased by her father's family, while her husband is buried in the adjacent plot purchased by her mother's family (both lots were purchased at the same time in 1856).
