My Dear old Nell
We received your letter last week & was very pleased to hear from you. Well Nell that long talked of event is at last past, & Frances has gone to her new home in Gympie. She was married at eleven oclock today week we had splendid fun the remainder of the day and till daylight the next morning. There was dancing singing & games, and Nell I did enjoy myself. She had Mary Knight chief bridesmaid and Mag, Beat & I the others. Mary had a white muslin dress & Mag white cashmere & Beat & I the cream nunsveiling Miss Maslen made my dress up a different way after your wedding Nell. This wedding was carried out different to yours Nell us bridesmaids had to go into the church & the bride came in after. Not half as nice Nell do you think so I think it is about time I wrote about something else now.
Auntie Em has got her photo's I suppose she will be sending you one soon, its a real good photo of both of them. Auntie was very sick last week she had that horrible influenza & was unable to go to the wedding George's arm is getting well he has been going to school but is not able to use the pencil he tried to the other day & his fingers & thumb all swelled up that he could not bend them. Sam has left Calgoa, he has been here nearly all this last week. Its a pity it turned out so poorly isn't it Nell. Beat is going down in a day or two to Tiaro with Sam to see poor old Auntie & she has been sick herself of late she was in bed for a week about a fortnight ago so she needs a change.
Nell what are you thinking of about those shoes I told you or I meant to when I was down that they were included with what we gave you. I suppose Nell you would like be nearer how you can't help but feel it sometimes but Nell its all in life and it will seem a lot worse when you go over to S. Africa wont it but Nell I hope poor old Arthur gets on well over there I suppose you will have heard from him so Nell write soon & tell us about his welfare.
Hannah McKewen's wedding must have been very pretty Nell, it was very quiet & they had nothing afterwards on account of their Aunt dying.
Later. Beat & Sam have gone to Tiaro, so Auntie will have some company, Nell we nightschool folk well not me but the scholars are getting up a picnic to be on the 7th Nov & I think we will have a good day weather permitting. The dengue fever or something like it is raging here now. I have got it. Nell I sent Uncle Dave a piece of your wedding cake and the paper with the account of it & if you have.......
Write Soon

Dear Nell
I suppose you think I'm a lazy beggar not writing beofre, but Ill make up now for last time, I though you had quite forgotten me, you kept me waiting so long for a letter but I was quite pleased the other night when I got your letter. I hope you got up to Rockhampton safe Nell, I made sure you were coming up here Nell for a while before you went back to Rockhampton & Arthur told us he was going to bring you up, when he went home to Tiaro that time.
There is a grand Ball here on Friday, but I suppose George told you about it Nell, he told me he wrote to you last week Poor old George has had a miserable time down at the Creek, he couldent eat a morsel of food, he said he was terrible lonely, but Tull went down with him today (Sunday), so next week when he has company he may be able to eat
Em was telling me that Mrs Kitt's was a lovely baby, I never saw it yet, Mrs Waldock had her baby christened today I think she called it Alice. We have some nice music here at times, Henry & Dad, I do love to hear Henry playing the violin, but he takes a lot of coaxing before he starts, he seems tired of playing. There has been an awful lot of sickness here Nell I hope you have not had it up there, because you always have enough troubles without having a lot of sickness in the house, especially Nell when you have a rowdy husband like yours, always boxing with you just because he is the best man I forgot all about that when he was here, we should have saw which was the best out of he & I. i must tell him about the building Nell, he was asking me about it.
Dear Arthur the house George & Dad were building is finished & really Arthur its a credit to them, you would really think it was a professional carpenter built it. George & I went out to see the house you & Sam built, & its nearly as good as the one George built, but you'll see it Arthur when you come down again, which I hope will not be long before you & Nell are down here with us. We cant go out to the new house to live until we get the tanks out there full, & I think that will be a long time, we have been such a long time without rain, & there are an awful lof of bush fires around here, the grass is all burnt around here & the place looks so bleak & miserable.
We never got any fish that time we went to Kinbombi Arthur but we had a grand trip. There is a double wedding here on Saturday Nell so Kilkivan is not dead yet, Mrs Love & her daughter Kate, are both to be married, & the daughter is only 16 years old she is far to young to be married. But this Kate is not married yet Arthur, I am waiting until you & Nell come down again, so dont keep us waiting too long Arthur. Well Dear Nell I cant think of any more news So I must leave off writing. How is Mrs Jones getting on, Give her my love Nell, & dont be too long thinking of coming down Arthur because Geo & I cant wait too long for you. So now I must go to bed. Best love from all.
I am
Your loving friend
Kate
