 Charles Plyer Waldock, after
the death of his first wife, employed a housekeeper, Ruth Dodkin.
While living with Charles, Ruth had 2 sons. The boys were registered with Dodkin as their
surname and Waldock as their middle name. Charles, shortly after the
birth of the second son, went to Canada with his sister, Anne, and her
husband, never to return. There he met, married and raised a family
with Hanna Maria Rickard.After
Charles' departure, Ruth moved to Luton and adopted the name Waldock for
herself and her boys. The eldest, Samuel, died of meningitis at age
16. Egbert Dodkin Waldock, the second son, worked in the straw industry in
and around Luton where he married and raised his family. The
following are the descendants of Egbert and his wife, Lucy Denton.
