HISTORY

This page contains the project history of William Allen Burnett Family TREE website.

Genealogy is something that I have always had an interest in, even as a child.  I began seriously researching my family tree in 1998 after my mother told me that my great-grandmother was a full-blooded Native American (Cherokee). I wanted to learn more about her heritage and learn I have.

My research has proven to be a long, hard journey and following the path of my ancestors hasn't been easy.  I have gotten lost, been misguided and stumbled many times along the way but I have always persevered.   My journey has been well worth all the frustration and the tears because I know who my ancestors are and they have showed me who I am.

I have made many other discoveries throughout my research and I am proud of my Native American - Cherokee, Scoth/Irish roots.  Giving my children the knowledge of their roots is the greatest gift, other than my love, that I could ever give to them.  So this website was created for them so that they will come to know their true heritage, never forget where they came from and always be proud of it.
