This is a photograph of the grotto. It is located at the base of the mountain where Robert Alexander Mackenzie, Sr. and his wife, Gertrude "Trude" Staude Williams Mackenzie built their A-frame house. This pillar appears to be sandstone that has eroded. On the sandstone floor is a series of half-sphere holes laid out in a checkerboard fashion. It is thought it may have been an old Indian marble game. Also, just around the corner from the pillar was a small waterfall and bubbling brook. This was a perfect place to sit, stay cool, and read a book.
