Thomas W. Stephenson
Company C
1831-1864

Thomas W. Stephenson was born in January 1831 in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. Little is known at this point about his parents or his siblings. On July 3, 1856, Thomas married Elizabeth Piper in Belmont County, Ohio. Their were three children born to this union: Lorenzo C., John Philetus, and William Shannon.

When he was 33 years old, he entered into service on February 23, 1864. He signed up to serve three years during the Civil War and became a Private in Company C of the 60th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was appointed to Sergeant on September 1, 1864. Unfortunately, he was killed in action on October 27, 1864 at Hatcher's Run.

A special thanks to Martha Williams for contributing this information. Thomas W. Stephenson was her great great grandfather.
