Joseph Ramsey Company F 1834?-After 1895

Joseph Ramsey was born in 1834 or 1835 in Ohio. His parents were born in Pennsylvania. His wife, Sarah E., was born in 1844 in Ohio. Her parents were also born in Ohio. Children: Allie was born in 1871 in Ohio; son William E. was born in Ohio in 1876.
Mr. Ramsey enlisted at age 13 (30?) in Company F of the 60th Ohio Infantry Regiment in September 1862. He was discharged in December 1862, as a private, probably due to illness. Joe moved to Minnesota in May, 1880. On June 24, 1880, William Denley enumerated the Ramseys in section 139/140 of Cass County.
According to the July 25, 1882, Issue of the Enterprise, Ramsey and John Jarvis expected shortly to move an enlarged stock of dry goods, groceries and farm implements into their new store and post office in Manter. Joseph was the first elected county coroner and served from November 23, 1883, until January 1887. In May 1885, Nelson Bement enumerated Joesph's household 15th in Manter, later called Hubbard. Joseph was included in the Hubbard Enumeration District in 1889. In June 1890, M. M. Loring enumerated Joseph 21st in Hubbard. Joseph Ramsey, 60, and his son W. E. Ramsey, 19, were enumerated 13th in Hubbard by E. R. Hinds on June 4, 1895. Joseph had farmed throughout the past year and his son had done farm labor for six months of the past year.
