Charles E. Girdner was born 26 July 1870 in Mercer County, Missouri, and died at the Methodist Hospital at Goodland, Kansas, 19 June 1927. He was the youngest child of John L. and Margaret Girdner and grew to manhood in Mercer County where he was married to Miss Ganon. To this union one son was born. The wife and mother died about one year later. He was then married to Mrs Gertrude Lindsey Miller, December 6th, 1898. To this union one child was born. but died in infancy. In 1918 (1917??) they moved to Thomas County, Kansas,, where they lived until 1923, when they moved to Wallace County, where they lived at the time of Mrs. Girdner's death and where he still lived. Obit: Western Times, Wallace Co., Sharon Springs, KS 14 May 1925, (known errors are corrected in Parentheses) Gertrude Lindsey was born in Iowa, September 30, 1869, later moving to Missouri with her parents, while she was a small girl. While she was quite your (young) she united with the Protestant Methodist Church. She was united in marriage with WEBB Miller and to them were born two sons, both of whom are living. They are bereaved of the husband and father when the boys were quite small. On December 6, 1898, she was united in marriage to Charles E. Gerdner (GIRDNER), and one son was born to this union, but died in infancy. In 1927 (1917) the family moved to Kansas near Colby, where Mrs. Gerdner (GIRDNER) united with the Methodist Episcopal Church. She had been a faithful member until death claimed her. About two years ago Mr and Mrs Gerdner (GIRDNER) moved to Wallace County and settled on the farm four miles north of Weskan. Here on the farm Mrs Gerdner (GIRDNER), when health would permit took an active interest in every thing pertaining to the religious life of the community. Only (ON) the sabbath before her death she attended twice. On Wednesday, May 6, 1925 she was called from her earthly home to her home above. She leaves to mourn her going a husband and two sons. The sons are Clifford W. Miller who lives north of Weskan, and Claude W. Miller who lives in Princeton, Missouri. The funeral service was held in the Methodist Church of Weskan Thursday afternoon at 4'oclock conducted by Rev M. E. Smith of Sharon Springs. The United Choirs of the two churches of Weskan furnished the music. The body was taken by relatives to Mercer (MERCER CO.), Missouri to be placed in the Lowry Cemetery. Mar (Mrs.) Gerdner (GIRDNER) has a host of friends at Mercer. Missouri and has made many friends at Weskan during her short stay in the community. She was a good christian woman, was generally heard concerning.. (NOTE) IN THIS OBIT THEY SPELLED THE NAME GERDNER AND mr GIRDNERS OBIT HAD IT AS GIRDNER (which is correct).
