The first Jew in Vladimirets came in the late 17th to early 18th Century.  On August 28th, 1942, all Jews were exterminated.  After the war, some drifted back, but left again quickly.  So we have a distinct timeframe of 1700 - 1942 that we can look at and say "this is our history in Vladimirets".

Vladimirets was a bit larger than other shtetls in the region, because the railroad stopped there, but it most ways, it was a typical shtetl.  Not a city.  Not rural.  Deeply connected to a web of other Jewish communities in the area and some far-flung. 

By understanding both Vladimirets itself and the time and place in which our ancestors lived, we can better understand our connections to it.
