Database
Listing
This database listing is significantly different from the
graphic trees you've seen here in the past. Over the past
year, the database has expanded to over 3,000 individuals.
This has allowed us to see connections between families that
we couldn't see before. We have added all the individuals
listed in the Sefer Vladimirets and many listed in Yad
Vashem pages of testimony. Significant additions were also
made by additional interviews and
contributions from
Vladimirets descendants.
With over 3,000 people , I can no longer create manual
graphic trees. Besides, the
family tree of Vladimirets isn't a single tree. It is a
small forest with really knotted branches. Many families
intermarried several times in several different ways. This
has made static graphic trees almost impossible, as the same
person may show up on a tree in 3 different ways in 3
different relationships. We're working on finding a program
that will allow you to see and print your section of the
tree from the database.
"The Nazis and their collaborators sought to murder each and
every Jew and to obliterate their memory. Where the attempt
to annihilate was made, there must be the attempt to
remember." -- quote at Yad Vashem. Through this
database, we hope to account for every family, every person
in Vladimirets. By giving them back their names and putting
them back in their place in the Family Tree, all the effort
that was made to obliterate them becomes worthless. We
cannot bring them back or truly understand what was lost,
but we can remember what we can and embrace them as the
family they are. In Vladimirets, we were all connected.
This database and website hopes to show that we still are.
Table of Contents
Surnames Index
— A list of all surnames in the database
Names Index
— A list of all individual names in the database
Vladimirets Surname
Index — a list of all surnames of Jewish families
known to have been in Vladimirets. Not all surnames
listed are represented in the database because the
Vladimirets Family Tree is incomplete.
Note 1: The
database lists women first by their maiden name, then by their
married name. So if we don't have their maiden name, the
database leaves it blank and lists them as "No Surname".
Note 2: This
is NOT the final format for the database or the way you will be
able to see it in the new website. Because of how much
information has been added just in the past few months, we
thought it was more important to get the information out than to
have it all pretty. Pretty is the next version.
Maybe even with Hebrew, if we can get it working correctly.
