                               William Speights married Girl Whitford, daughter of Thomas Whitford and Sarah (?). William Speights Craven County Court--Jesse Hartley [probably a son of John Hartley and brother of John Hartley apprenticed to John Whitford at the same court session], 6 years on 15th of February [1769] apprenticed to William Speight to learn a trade as a cooper. John Whitford served as security. In March 1769. He died circa 1797 in Craven County, North Carolina. He left a will on 23 July 1797 in Craven County, North Carolina.1 His estate was probated in September 1797.2

Martin Whitford witnessed the will of Francis Searles in 1765 in Craven County, North Carolina. Martin Whitford was exempted from paying poll taxes for the year 1795 and following, he being over 60 years of age. In June 1796. He died circa December 1804 in Craven County, North Carolina; as it was "Ordered that David Whitford have administration upon the estate of Martin Whitford decd. upon entering into bond in the sum of L500 with John Whitford and Levi Reel his surities. Ordered that he have leave to sell the perishable property."1

Willis Whitford was accused with Owen Griffin and John and Martin Whitford (sons of John Whitford) that they "Did Maliciously & Wilfully Drownd & Murder a Negro Man of [William Gaskins] property by the Name of Peter on Sunday the 8th day July at the Landing Calld John Whitfords, on Little Swift Creek contrary to the Laws & Dignity of this Country." The document names Willis as the son of Thomas. On 9 July 1792 in Craven County, North Carolina.1 He was personally appeared before John Frink Smith and Francis Lowthorp, Justices of the Peace, and "acknowledged themselves indebted to the State in the Sum of two Hundred Pounds" to appear at the New Bern District Superior Court in September 1792 to stand trial for the murder of Peter, slave of William Gaskins. On 10 July 1792 in Craven County, North Carolina.1

                                     William? Whitford married (?) (?). William? Whitford received a bequest of breeches and witnessed the will of John Jackson, a carpenter of Bath County, Beaufort Precinct on 30 July 1728.2 He witnessed the will of Joshua Porter of Bath County, N.C. On 17 January 1733.3 He witnessed the will of Thomas Underwood, who owned land on Beaver Dam Creek. On 22 January 1734 in Bath County, North Carolina. He came into Craven County court & declared on oath that his family consisted of three white persons, and hath a claim to his rights. In December 1741. William? with Jane Hand and Richard Hart witnessed the will of Edward Bryan on 28 January 1745.4 He witnessed the deed of Thomas Whitford and John Hartley on 28 March 1748 in Craven County, North Carolina.5 William? Whitford sold land to Thomas Whitford on 28 March 1748 in Craven County, North Carolina.6 William?
