He also does not appear on the 1850 Census of Craven County, leaving one to speculate that he may have died between 1848 and 1850. It is possible that he moved from Craven County to parts unknown.

In Craven County, North Carolina, as she appears on a list of school children between 5 and 21 years old in Craven County school districts 18 in 1841 and 1842. She is not listed in the 1846 list for District 43 (although her brothers and sisters are). From the listings, she is always listed as the fourth Toler child, indicating she was probably younger than Mary, Thomas, and Joshua. It is possible (but not likely) that she married and moved from Craven County; however, no record of a marriage in Craven County exists for a Drucilla Toler.

     Nora Ann Buck was born on 6 April 1877 in Pamlico County, North Carolina.1 She was the daughter of Spencer Buck and Mary Caton.1 Nora Ann Buck married Leonard Macon Toler, son of Zachariah Toler and Susan Daw, on 30 April 1910 in Pamlico County, North Carolina.2 6 March 1911, Nora appeared before the Craven County Commissioners "and asked them for aid. She said that several years ago she married a man named Maddison Dawe, that they had one child; that her husband died about a year after their marriage, and that she then married [Leonard] Toler, who took her to live with his parents. A month or more ago another child was born to them. Three weeks ago her husband told her that she would either have to get rid of the child by her first husband or leave his house. After thinking the matter over she decided to leave and went to her mother, who lives in Pamlico County. Owing to the fact that she is not a citizen of this county the board was unable to assist her, but a committee was appointed to investigate the case and report it to the Solicitor who if facts are as they were represented to them, indicted the husband for desertion."3 She died on 27 August 1953 in Craven County, North Carolina, at age 76.1

His obituary appeared in the New Bern Tribune on Friday, 29 September 1939 and read as follows: "Charles A. Toler, 59, Dies at Alliance; Funeral Conducted. Funeral services were conducted from Grantsboro Free Will Baptist church Wednesday afternoon for Charles Alexander Toler, 59, who died suddenly Tuesday morning at his home in Alliance. Final rites were conducted by N.D. Wiggs of New Bern, pastor of the church, assisted by Rev. Duff Toler of Washington, N.C. Burial was in the church yard at Grantsboro. Survivors include Mr. Toler's widow, Mrs. Caddie Lane Toler; two daughters, Mrs. Emory Sawyer of Cash Corner, and Mrs. Charlton Hobbs of Bayboro; four sons, Tom of Arapahoe, and Charlie, Lee and John, all of Alliance."3
