Albert Mason Purifoy died on 28 June 1973 in Craven County, North Carolina, at age 80.¹ He was buried in Pine Tree Cemetery, Caton, Craven County, North Carolina.

     John Calvin Purifoy was born on 29 December 1856. He was the son of Arrington Purifoy and Clarissa Morris. John Calvin Purifoy married Clarissa Jane Toler, daughter of Stephen Toler and Susan Wiley, on 22 February 1880 in Craven County, North Carolina.¹ John Calvin Purifoy died on 18 February 1937 in Craven County, North Carolina, at age 80.² He was buried on 20 February 1937 in Pine Tree Cemetery, Caton, Craven County, North Carolina.²

     Noah Merle Mayo Jr. was born on 14 January 1932. He was the son of Noah Merle Mayo and Lillian Hudnell. Noah Merle Mayo Jr. died on 18 October 1984 in Craven County, North Carolina, at age 52.

     DuVal Glenn Holton was born circa 1906. He married Clelle Olivia Toler, daughter of Henry Wallace Toler and Mattie Edwards, on 9 February 1928 in Craven County, North Carolina.

     Bertha Pipkin was born on 29 January 1898 in Pamlico County, North Carolina.¹ She married Charles Henderson Toler, son of James Lawrence Toler and Sinia Anne Dunn, on 23 December 1916. Bertha Pipkin died on 15 April 1940 in New Bern, Craven County, North Carolina, at age 42.¹
Her death notice appeared in the New Bern Tribune on Tuesday, 16 April 1940. "Mrs. C.H. Toler is Claimed by Death, Funeral Today--Wife of Well-Known New Bern Merchant Passes Away Yesterday; Funeral Today--Funeral Services for Mrs. C.H. Toler, 36, wife of C.H. Toler, prominent New Bern Merchant, who died at her home yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock will be conducted from the St. Mary's Free Will Baptist Church at 3 o'clock this afternoon with burial in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. The services will be conducted by the Rev. M.C. Prescott, pastor of the New Haven Free Will Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. W.B. Everett, of New Bern. Surviving are her husband, her father, Charles Pipkin of Bridgeton, and four sisters: Mrs. M.D. Fulcher of New Bern, Mrs. Dallas Tyndall, Mrs. Tilghman Fulcher, and Mrs. Frank Toler of the Antioch section. The deceased has been a life-long member of the New Haven Free Will Baptist Church."²
A second death notice appeared the following day and read: "Funeral Services are Conducted for Mrs. Bertha Toler. Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha M. Toler, 36, wife of C.H. Toler, New Bern merchant, who died at her home Monday afternoon from a blood clot on the brain, were conducted yesterday afternoon from St. Mary's Free Will Baptist Church. The Rev. M.C. Prescott, pastor of the New Haven Free Will Baptist Church near Ernul, where the deceased was a life-long member; assisted by the Rev. W.B. Everett of New Bern, conducted the services. A large crowd attended the funeral which was marked by an abundance of floral displays. Interment was in Cedar Grove Cemetery."³

     Lottie Mae Fulcher Tingle was born on 27 May 1913. She married Charles Henderson Toler, son of James Lawrence Toler and Sinia Anne Dunn, on 13 June 1941. Lottie Mae Fulcher Tingle died on 5 March 2003 in New Bern, Craven County, North Carolina, at age 89.¹

     Delbert Jay Miltenberger was born on 21 April 1901. He married Rena Mae Toler, daughter of James Lawrence Toler and Barbara Jones. Delbert Jay Miltenberger died on 21 February 1990 in Washington, Beaufort County, North Carolina, at age 88.

     JoAnn Miltenberger was born on 24 March 1933 in Washington, Beaufort County, North Carolina.¹ She was the daughter of Delbert Jay Miltenberger and Rena Mae Toler. JoAnn Miltenberger married John David Hodges. JoAnn Miltenberger married Harold Edmond Woolard on 23 March 1991.¹ JoAnn Miltenberger died on 8 January 2004 at age 70.¹

     Infant daughter Whitford died on 7 February 1912 at age 0. She was born on 7 February 1912. She was the daughter of Ira Edgar Whitford and Mary Susan Wetherington.

     Verona Stilley was born on 5 May 1922. She was the daughter of Henry Bryan Stilley and Georgia Ann Toler. Verona Stilley married Woodrow Wilson Miller on 8 November 1943 in Craven County, North Carolina.¹ Verona Stilley died on 9 March 2001 at age 78.

     Woodrow Wilson Miller married Verona Stilley, daughter of Henry Bryan Stilley and Georgia Ann Toler, on 8 November 1943 in Craven County, North Carolina.¹ Woodrow Wilson Miller died on 31 August 1996.

     A. Harrel Stilley married Mabel Garner. A. Harrel Stilley was born on 1 September 1924. He was the son of Henry Bryan Stilley and Georgia Ann Toler. A. Harrel Stilley died on 27 February 1999 at age 74.

     Arthur Chrysler Stilley was born on 17 October 1927 in Craven County, North Carolina.¹ He was the son of Henry Bryan Stilley and Georgia Ann Toler. Arthur Chrysler Stilley died on 17 April 2007 in New Bern, Craven County, North Carolina, at age 79. He was buried on 20 April 2007 in Stilley Family Cemetery, Caton, Craven County, North Carolina.

     Nannie Daugherty Ipock was born on 8 January 1898. She married William Toler, son of William Pitt Toler and Almira Ramon Jones, on 11 April 1922. Nannie Daugherty Ipock died on 30 August 1968 in Beaufort County, North Carolina, at age 70. She was buried in High Bridge Cemetery, Caton, Craven County, North Carolina.

     Mary Edna Rowe witnessed the burial of Mary Edna Rowe. She married James Luther Toler, son of William Toler and Nannie Daugherty Ipock, on 25 December 1954. Mary Edna Rowe died on 19 May 1994 in Caton, Craven County, North Carolina.

     John Riley Gaskins was born in August 1862 in Craven County, North Carolina.¹ He was the son of Riley Gaskins and Sarah Bland. John Riley Gaskins was born in April 1866 according to his tombstone. He married Penelope Elizabeth Toler, daughter of William Toler and Penelope Barrington, on 7 February 1889 in Craven County, North Carolina.² John Riley Gaskins was ill with typhoid fever in 1903. The Zorah correspondent reported to the New Bern Journal that "Mr. John R. Gaskins is very sick and has been for 28 days. He was thought to be dying several times but is still living and it is hoped is somewhat better."

The correspondent wrote a few days later, "There is more sickness in our community at this time than has been known for a long time. Mr. John Gaskins who has had typhoid fever, has been sick now for seventy days and cannot even turn himself in bed yet. His wife and children are now sick and it is thought one of the children will die. There is nobody left to wait on the sick."³ He and Penelope Elizabeth Toler were living on 4 May 1917? In Kinston, Lenoir County, North Carolina. John Riley Gaskins died on 13 August 1928 in Craven County, North Carolina, due to prostate cancer.¹ He was buried on 14 August 1928 in High Bridge Cemetery, Caton, Craven County, North Carolina.

     William Elbert Gaskins was born on 6 November 1888 according to his death certificate with information provided by his wife.¹ He was born on 10 November 1891 according to his tombstone. He was the son of John Riley Gaskins and Penelope Elizabeth Toler. William Elbert Gaskins married Cornelia Purifoy on 16 September 1912 in Craven County, North Carolina.² William Elbert Gaskins died on 20 February 1927 at age 35 according to his tombstone. He died on 21 February 1927 in Craven County, North Carolina, at age 35 due to accidental drowning. The Sun Journal reported that a "funeral was held Monday (21 Feb) for W. Elbert Gaskins, 37, who lives in the Walker road section, whose body was found in a canal by the road. Gaskins left home Sunday and when he failed to return that night search was made for him with the result that his body was found in the canal.
     Coronor Hartsfield investigated the case and found an inquest unnecessary. His opinion was that death was due to drowning. There was no sign of foul play and no jury was empaneled."^1,3 He was buried in High Bridge Cemetery, Caton, Craven County, North Carolina.

     Mary Ersley Gaskins was born. She was the daughter of John Riley Gaskins and Penelope Elizabeth Toler. Mary Ersley Gaskins died before 1900.

     Jessie Willis Gaskins was born on 4 September 1894. He was the son of John Riley Gaskins and Penelope Elizabeth Toler. Jessie Willis Gaskins married Angelina Easther "Angie" Price, daughter of Duffy Price and Holland Daw, on 8 November 1917 in Lenoir County, North Carolina.¹ Jessie Willis Gaskins died on 23 September 1979 at age 85. He was buried in High Bridge Cemetery, Caton, Craven County, North Carolina.

     Pinina Gaskins married Joseph Ernest Heath. Pinina Gaskins was born on 25 May 1897 according to her tombstone. She was born on 28 May 1897. She was the daughter of John Riley Gaskins and Penelope Elizabeth Toler. Pinina Gaskins died on 22 June 1988 at age 91. She was buried on 24 June 1988 in High Bridge Cemetery, Caton, Craven County, North Carolina.

     Naomi Ruth Gaskins was born on 22 August 1899. She was the daughter of John Riley Gaskins and Penelope Elizabeth Toler. Naomi Ruth Gaskins married Alexander "Alec" Cuthrell on 2 June 1923. Naomi Ruth Gaskins died on 10 September 1990 at age 91. She and Alexander "Alec" Cuthrell had no children.

     Emma Kate Gaskins was born circa 1901. She was the daughter of John Riley Gaskins and Penelope Elizabeth Toler. Emma Kate Gaskins died before 1910.

     John Allen Gaskins was born on 5 June 1904.¹ He was the son of John Riley Gaskins and Penelope Elizabeth Toler. John Allen Gaskins married Mary Lorena Cayton on 27 September 1924. John Allen Gaskins died on 8 May 1955 in Craven County, North Carolina, at age 50.²
