     Penelope Barrington was born on 6 December 1827. She was the daughter of Nathan Barrington and Mary Gaskins. Penelope Barrington and William Toler obtained a marriage bond on 2 December 1845 in Craven County, North Carolina.¹ Penelope Barrington died on 27 August 1889 in Zorah, Craven County, North Carolina, at age 61. She was buried in High Bridge Cemetery, Caton, Craven County, North Carolina.

     Benjamin Carvasso Toler was born on 2 October 1846. He was the son of William Toler and Penelope Barrington. Benjamin Carvasso Toler married Sarah Ann Norman on 28 March 1869 in Craven County, North Carolina.¹ Benjamin Carvasso Toler "At a sanctified meeting at Mr. B.C. Toler's last Saturday night, they had quite a warm time. There was a drunken brawl in which sticks, clubs, and pistols were used in a free manner. Nobody it seems was seriously hurt, but black eyes and bruised heads are at a discount. So much for sanctification and illicit whiskey." on 27 April 1901 in Zorah, Craven County, North Carolina.² He died on 26 June 1912 at age 65. He was buried in High Bridge Cemetery, Caton, Craven County, North Carolina.

     Frances Anne Toler was born in September 1848 according to the 1900 Beaufort County (Oregon Precinct) Census. She was the daughter of William Toler and Penelope Barrington. Frances Anne Toler married David R. Dunn, son of David D. Dunn and Sinia Rowe, on 6 February 1874 in Craven County, North Carolina.¹ Frances Anne Toler died on 21 June 1903 at age 54 "Miss Fanny Dunn formerly of this place died at her home near Aurora on the 21st instant of typhoid fever. The remains were brought here Monday and interred in the family burial ground at Bethel Church. Her husband is dangerously sick with the same fever. She has four brothers and two sisters living at this place."² She was buried on 22 June 1903 in High Bridge Cemetery, Caton, Craven County, North Carolina.

     Laura Toler was born on 25 January 1854. She was the daughter of William Toler and Penelope Barrington. Laura Toler was born on 2 January 1855.¹ She married Henry Bryan Wetherington on 1 July 1875 in Craven County, North Carolina.² Laura Toler died on 3 October 1928 in Craven County, North Carolina, at age 74 due to pneumonia.¹ She was buried in Pine Tree Cemetery, Caton, Craven County, North Carolina.

     Mary Toler was born on 20 September 1856. She was the daughter of William Toler and Penelope Barrington. Mary Toler died on 27 October 1888 at age 32. She was buried in High Bridge Cemetery, Caton, Craven County, North Carolina, She was the first person to be buried at High Bridge Cemetery. Pa Pitt Toler purchased the land from Dave Caton to create the cemetry. She never married.

     Willis Ceward Toler was born on 17 September 1861 in Craven County, North Carolina.¹ He was the son of William Toler and Penelope Barrington. Willis Ceward Toler married Emily Susan Toler, daughter of Isaiah W. Toler and Holland Jane Dunn, on 19 July 1888 in Craven County, North Carolina.² Willis Ceward Toler was a Republican candidate for Register of Deeds in 1902 in Craven County, North Carolina. He died on 28 November 1921 in Craven County, North Carolina, at age 60.¹ He was buried in High Bridge Cemetery, Caton, Craven County, North Carolina.

     Penelope Elizabeth Toler was born on 15 October 1869 according to her death certificate.¹ She was the daughter of William Toler and Penelope Barrington. Penelope Elizabeth Toler was born on 15 October 1874 according to her tombstone. She married John Riley Gaskins, son of Riley Gaskins and Sarah Bland, on 7 February 1889 in Craven County, North Carolina.² Penelope Elizabeth Toler and John Riley Gaskins were living on 4 May 1917? In Kinston, Lenoir County, North Carolina. Penelope Elizabeth Toler died on 5 April 1937 in Craven County, North Carolina, at age 67.¹ She was buried on 6 April 1937 in High Bridge Cemetery, Caton, Craven County, North Carolina.¹

     John Franklin Jones was born circa 1827. He was the son of Azariah Jones and Barbara Peed. John Franklin Jones married Matilda Jane Rowe, daughter of Absalom Tuten Rowe and Feriba Rowe, on 6 January 1853.

     Matilda Jane Rowe was born on 1 July 1834. She was the daughter of Absalom Tuten Rowe and Feriba Rowe. Matilda Jane Rowe married John Franklin Jones, son of Azariah Jones and Barbara Peed, on 6 January 1853. Matilda Jane Rowe died on 14 March 1917 at age 82.

     Absalom Tuten Jones was the son of John Franklin Jones and Matilda Jane Rowe.

     Bryan Harvey Jones was the son of John Franklin Jones and Matilda Jane Rowe.

     Frank Jones was the son of John Franklin Jones and Matilda Jane Rowe.

     Matilda Jones was the daughter of John Franklin Jones and Matilda Jane Rowe.

     Elizabeth Jones was the daughter of John Franklin Jones and Matilda Jane Rowe.

     Theresa Ann "Rhesa" Jones was born in 1863 in Beaufort County, North Carolina.¹ She was the daughter of John Franklin Jones and Matilda Jane Rowe. Theresa Ann "Rhesa" Jones married Charles F. Rowe, son of David Rowe and Sarah Ann Bennet, on 7 December 1882 in Beaufort County, North Carolina.¹ Theresa Ann "Rhesa" Jones died in 1897 in Beaufort County, North Carolina.¹

     David Rowe was born in 1825. He was the son of Shadrack Rowe and Holland Gatlin. David Rowe married Sarah Ann Bennet, daughter of Wiley Bennet and Sarah L. (?), on 20 March 1852. David Rowe died in 1872.

      Sarah Ann Bennet was also known as Salley Bennet. She was born in 1837. She was the daughter of Wiley Bennet and Sarah L. (?). Sarah Ann Bennet married David Rowe, son of Shadrack Rowe and Holland Gatlin, on 20 March 1852.

     Julia Luvain Rowe was born on 18 December 1853. She was the daughter of David Rowe and Sarah Ann Bennet. Julia Luvain Rowe married Dennis Perdue Toler, son of Stephen Toler and Susan Wiley, on 26 February 1876 in Craven County, North Carolina.¹ Julia Luvain Rowe died on 29 August 1927 at age 73. She died on 30 August 1927 in Craven County, North Carolina, at age 73.²

     Thomas Rowe was born circa December 1852. He was the son of David Rowe and Sarah Ann Bennet.

     John Rowe was born circa 1860. He was the son of David Rowe and Sarah Ann Bennet.

     Delila Rowe was born circa 1858. She was the daughter of David Rowe and Sarah Ann Bennet.

     Sarah Rowe was born circa 1864. She was the daughter of David Rowe and Sarah Ann Bennet.

     Charles F. Rowe was born circa 1862. He was the son of David Rowe and Sarah Ann Bennet. Charles F. Rowe married Theresa Ann "Rhesa" Jones, daughter of John Franklin Jones and Matilda Jane Rowe, on 7 December 1882 in Beaufort County, North Carolina.¹ Charles F. Rowe died on 21 May 1941 in Blounts Creek, Beaufort County, North Carolina.¹

     Stephen Toler was born on 3 August 1828. He was the son of James Toler and Rebecca Springle. Stephen Toler and Susan Wiley obtained a marriage bond on 24 June 1848 in Craven County, North Carolina.¹
Stephen Toler built a home that architectural historian Peter Sanbeck called a "pure example of the coastal cottage form." circa 1870 in Little Swift Creek, Craven County, North Carolina, . Cayton Hunting Club now (2002) uses the home as their hunting lodge.²
Stephen and Charles Toler were involved in a court case involving land. According to the New Bern Weekly Journal of April 2, 1885, "The cases of Charles Toler et als vs. Stephen Toler, being a suit for recovery of lands, and of W.D. Toler vs. Stephen Toler for trespass on lands, were decided by arbitrators at the office of Green & Stevenson on Tuesday to the satisfaction of all concern[ed]. The arbitrators were S.W. Latham, chairman, V.A. Thomas, James F. Heath, and James B. O'Neal. An umpire was selected but his services were not needed. Hon. C.C. Clark appeared for the plaintiff, Moore & Clarke and Green & Stevenson for the defendant. The plaintiff recovered in the trespass suit and defendant in the suit for the recovery of lands. Thus a tedious and complicated lawsuit was ended."
On 6 August 1892 in Craven County Courthouse, New Bern, Craven County, North Carolina,, Stephen Toler served on "A committee of seven on Platform and Resolutions" for the People's (Populist) Party of Craven County. Other members of the committee included John A. Jackson, J.W. Kennedy, George D. Conner, J.L. Taylor, J.H. Wetherington, and C.L. Wetherington. The committee drafted the following report which was adopted by the County Convention:
"The People's Party of Craven County in this thier first convention, invoking upon their actions the blessings of Almighty God, puts forth in the name of the people of this county, the following preamble and resolution of principles:
The conditions which now surround us justify our co-operation as we have received no help in the past and have no hope of receiving any in the future from the two old parties. They seem to have agreed together to ignore the needs of the laboring class of people.
Believing that the forces of reform, now organized, will never cease to move forward until every wrong is righted and equal rights and equal privileges established for all the men and women of this country. Therefore be it
Resolved, That we, the People's Party of Craven County adopt the platform as adopted at the Convention held at Omaha, Neb., July 4, 1892.
Be it further Resolved, That the revenue, derived from a graduated income tax, should be applied to the reduction of the burden of taxation now levied upon the domestic industries of this county."³ He died on 16 December 1902 at age 74.
His obituary read "Death at Zorah. Tuesday night, after several months sickness, Stephen Toler died at his home at Zorah, in this county [Craven], aged 76 years. Mr. Toler was well esteemed neighbor, and had been a farmer all his life. He leaves a wife, five sons and five daughters." on 19 December 1902 in Craven County, North Carolina.⁴ He was buried in Stephen Toler Family Cemetery, Caton, Craven County, North Carolina.

     Susan Wiley was born on 9 February 1829. She was the daughter of Redding Wiley and Peggy Daw. Susan Wiley and Stephen Toler obtained a marriage bond on 24 June 1848 in Craven County, North Carolina.¹ Susan Wiley died on 15 October 1919 at age 90. She was buried in Stephen Toler Family Cemetery, Caton, Craven County, North Carolina.
