McCoun - McCaw -Kimberland

Francis McCoun and Margaret Patterson

Francis McCoun and Margaret Patterson were from Ireland and removed to Augusta Co., Va about 1744 where a headright exists in the Augusta Co., Va Court of Common Pleas.  The family were weavers.  Francis died 18 Nov 1761 in Augusta Co., Va.  Margret died after April 1763.  Children of this couple are:

  • Malcom (Markham) who married Elinor Moss 21 Jan 1779 in Botetourt Co., Va.
  • Isabel who married William Henry about 1748 probably in Augusta Co., Va.
  • George who was born about 1744 in Augusta Co., Va.
  • Francis who was born about 1746 in Augusta Co., Va.
  • James who was born about 1750 in Augusta Co., Va.
  • Margaret who was born about 1752 in Augusta Co., Va.
  • Agnes born abt 1754 in Augusta Co., Va; married 1 Aug 1775 in Botetourt Co., Va to WIlliam Logan.  Agnes died 28 Jun 1844.  She with her spouse were among the earliest Kentucky settlers.
  • Katherine born about 1756 in Augusta Co., Va.

Information is being sought on the McCaw family of Pulaski Co., Kentucky.  David McCaw died February 1815 in Pulaski County.  His wife was Martha.  No children are known for this couple.  Please e-mail with any information.

Kimberlin/Kimberland

Johan Jacob Kimberlin (aka John) was born 1709 to 1713 in Baden, Germany.  He married 1746 in Hampshire Co., Va to Sarah Clendenin.  Sarah was born 1728 in Virginia.  Children of this union were:

  • Jacob Kimberlin born 1747; md 1770 to Sarah Chescheir in Hampshire Co., Va.  He died 27 Sep 1803/1804 at West Point, Hardin, Kentucky.
  • Abraim Kimberland born 1749 in Va; married 6 Nov 1820 Henry Co., Kentucky to Nancy.
  • John Kimberlin born 2 June 1751 in Virginia; md 1 Oct 1777 in Hampshire Co., Va to Ruth Jones.  John died 30 April 1835 in Scott Co., In.
  • Henry Kimberlin born 1766 in Hagerstown, Frederick, Md; md Olavy Patterson 5 Oct 1795 in Washington Co., Ke. Henry died 1825 nr Allisonville, In.  No information on children available. 
Jacob and Sarah Chescheir Kimberlin were parents of these children born in Hampshire Co., Va.
  • Margaret born 1773.
  • Mary Ellen born abt 1774; married George G. Stumpf 26 Nov 1795 in Washington Co., Kentucky.
  • John born 1 Apr 1777; married 15 Apr 1802 in Washington Co., Ke. To Elizabeth Fowler.  John is buried in Pottsville, Kentucky.
  • William born about 1779.
  • Debby born about 1781.
  • Henry born about 1785.
  • Rachel born abt 1791.
Abraim Kimberland was born 1749 in Va to Johan Jacob and Sarah Clendenin Kimberlin.  Abraham married Nancy.  The couple lived in Hampshire Co., Va until about 1786. Children of the couple are:
  • Sarah born 1777 in Va; married Hugh Logan 31 Jan 1805 in Henry Co., Ke.
  • Daniel born 1778; married Keziah Shaw 20 Jun 1807 in Henry Co., Ke.
  • Abraham born 1780; married Elizabeth Spurgin 9 Aug 1816 in Henry Co., Ke. Abraham Kimberland Jr. died 4 Oct 1824 in Henry Co., Ke.
  • Rutha born 1784; married Samuel Adams 26 Oct 1803 in Henry Co., Ke.
  • Eliza born 1786; married John Thorn 28 Mar 1804 in Henry Co., Ke.
  • Maria born 1798; married William Tarr 27 Nov 1823 in Shelby Co., Ke.
  • Levica born about 1800; married James Shepherd 21 Jul 1821 in Shelby Co., Ke.
John Kimberlin and Ruth Jones had ten children: Elizabeth, Sarah, Abraham, Nancy, John, Daniel, Susan, Isaac Jones, Mary and Jacob J.  Kimberlin.  These children were born in Hampshire Co., Va except for Mary and Jacob who were born in Greene Co., Pa.  All known deaths of these children occurred in Indiana.  The family was in Scott Co., Indiana.  E-mail for additional but limited information on this family.
