William Roundtree & Dorcus Dudley

William Roundtree was born 1700 of Blisland Parish, New Kent Co., VA.  He is believed to be the son of William Rountree.  He married Dorcus Dudley who was born 1704 in New Kent Co., VA.  Dorcus was the daughter of Ambrose and Judith Scott Dudley.  Children of William and Dorcus are:

  • William (1722-1775) married to Jean Fenton 4 Nov 1759 in Goochland Co., Va.
  • Isabella (1736- ) married to Richard Goldsmith about 1752.
  • Randolph (Randall) (1727-15 Dec 1788) married Sarah abt 1750-1760.
  • Dudley born 4 Jan 1728 in New Kent Co., Va. He married Susannah Roberts.  Dudley died 1812 in Hart Co., Kentucky.
  • Elizabeth (1740-1766) married Callam Bailey 4 Jun 1761 in Goochland Co., Va. 
  • Dorcus (1740- ) born in New Kent Co., Va; married Drury Murrell 29 Sep 1763.
  • Mary (1745-5 Jul 1813) married William Whitlock 22 Dec 1767.
  • Thomas (1748-1835) married Letitia Bernard 6 Jul 1767 in Goochland Co., Va.
  • Drucilla born 17 Feb 1749 -17 Feb 1781; married Anthony Haden 4 July 1765 in Goochland Co., Va.
  • Rebecca born 1750; married Robert Wade 7 Feb 1771 in Goochland Co., Va.
  • Richardson born 1751 in New Kent Co., Va; married Mildred Hart 1775 in Union Co., SC; Richardson died 20 Mar 1819 in Edgefield Co., SC.

Dudley and Susannah Roberts Roundtree

Dudley Roundtree born 4 Jan 1728 in New Kent Co., Va.  Dudley married Susannah Roberts, daughter of John and Susanna Roberts.  Susannah was born 28 Jan 1739 in New Kent Co., Va.  Dudley died 1812; Susannah died 1818 - both in Hart Co., KE. Children of the couple were all born in Cumberland Co., Va.

  • Samuel born 20 Oct 1756; married Mary Hughes 8 Feb 1779 in Bedford Co., Va.  Samuel died 28 Sep 1805 in Christian Co., KE.
  • Nancy born abt 1758.  She married Blackmore Hughes 22 Dec 1783 in Bedford Co., Va.
  • Nathaniel born 16 May 1760. He married Elizabeth Worley 24 Feb 1784 in Bedford Co., Va.  Nathaniel died about 1832 in Hart Co., KE.
  • Mary (1762-1823). Mary married Stephen Turner 16 July 1782 in Bedford Co., Va.  Mary died in Lincoln Co., KE.
  • Henry (1765-1784)  - Henry married Wealthy Richardson.
  • Dudley Jr. (1768-29 Nov 1839) Dudley married Martha Richardson 5 May 1790 in Lincoln Co., KE.  Dudley Jr. died 29 Nov 1839 in Hart Co., KE.
  • Susan born 1772.  She married John Mann 17 Jun 1794 in Lincoln Co., KE.  She probably died in Todd Co., KE.

Ambrose Dudley and Judith Scott

Ambrose Dudley, son of Ambrose Dudley, was born 1678 and was of New Kent Co., Va.  No information is available on Judith Scott, his wife.  Their children are:

  • Judith Dudley born 1700 in Gloucester Co., Va.
  • Dorcus Dudley born 1704 in New Kent Co., Va.

Ambrose Dudley born 1649 of Lower Norfolk Co., Va was the son of Richard Dudley and Mary Sewell.  Ambrose Dudley Sr. died 1715 in Virginia.  Only known son is Ambrose Dudley.  See preceding paragraph.

Richard Dudley and Mary Sewell were both born in England.  See Ancestral File for additional information. Their children were:
  • Robert born 1647; married Elizabeth Ransom.
  • Richard born 1647; married Elizabeth Stephens
  • Ambrose born 1649.  See preceding paragraph.

  • William born abt 1650.
  • Richard born about 1650; married Mary Jesper. Richard died 1 June 1698.
