Will of Thomas Vines of Tockenham Wick
30th April 1639, proved
6 July 1653
In the Name of God Amen. The last day
of the month of Aprill Anno Dom 1639 I Thomas Vines the elder of Tockenhamwick
in the ….. of …… ….. being ….. and weak in body but thanks be to God of
sound and perfect memory utterly and absolutely ….. …… …… ….. and denys
in ye all former or other wills …. And bequests whatsoever heretofore by
me made or putt in writing do make and constitute and ordayn this my last
will and testament in manner and forme following
He commits his soul to God
and his body to his executrix to be solemnly interred in the churchyard
of Tockenham in waiting for the resurrection.
And as for my worldly goods which the
Almighty in his great mercy hath endowed me with I dispose and bequeath
as follows
First I give and bequeath unto Robert
Vines my eldest son all my doors door locks benches shelfes casks and window
.....
Item I give unto my sonne William Vines
my broad looms my greatest brass pott except one.
Item I give unto my godsonne William
Vines, the sonne of my said son William Vines tenn shillings
Item I give unto my son Thomas Vines
twelve pence.
Item I give unto my son John Vines
all my wearing apparell and 20 shillings in money
Item I give unto my daughter Agnes
being my eldest daughter six pounds of good and lawful money of England
and two pewter platters and a porringer
Item I give unto my daughter Elizabeth
Vines six pounds of goods and lawful money and two pewter platters and
one porringer
Item I give and bequeath to Daniel
and Thomas, the sons of my said sonne Robert two shillings and six pence
apiece.
Item I give and bequeath unto Thomas
and John the sonnes (and Agnes the daughter) of my said sonne John Vines
twelve pence apiece.
Item I give unto my brother Robert
Vines six shillings and eight pence
All the rest of my goods and chattells
of what quantity and quality or kind soever not hereby given and bequeathed
my debts paid and funeral obsequies discharged I give and bequeath unto
Elizabeth my wife whom I make and ordain my whole and sole executrix of
this my last will and testament, nothing doubting but that she will faithfully
truly and constantly perform and fullfill this my last will and testament
according to my true intent and meaning
And I nominate and appoint my right....
and well beloved brother in law John Beckett the elder to be overseer of
this my last Will and Testament hoping that he will be assistant and helpful
unto my said executrix unto whom I give two shillings yet.
And so I willingly ……… for my …. God
to call for me to rest in the heaven of happiness with the prince of peace
everlastingly. In witness whereof I ….. this my last will and testament
to be putt in writing and ….. to sett my hand and seale the day and yeare
above written
