The Will of Sarah Vines of Smithcot 1778

This is the last will and testament of me Sarah Vines the widow of Benjamin Vines of Smithcot in the Parish of Dauntsey in the County of Wilts, yeoman, deceased, made the thirtieth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy eight. 

Whereas by my late husbands will proved at Salisbury the eighteenth day of July one thousand seven hundred and seventy six, the sum of two hundred pounds is bequeathed  to me to dispose of by such shares and proportions and at such time and times as I shall think proper, either in my lifetime or by my last will and testament in writing for the sole use and benefit of my son Walter Vines:

Now I do hereby give and bequeath to my said son Walter Vines the sum of two hundred pounds and all other my estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature or kind soever subject to the payment of the following legacies, that is to say:

I give to my son John the sum of five pounds.

To my daughter Mary Bathe, the wife of Thomas Bathe of Dauntsey aforesaid five pounds.

To my daughter Sarah Hooper the wife of Robert Hooper of Dauntsey, aforesaid, yeoman, five pounds.

To my daughter Susannah Baker the wife of Thomas Baker of Wootten Bassett in the said County of Wilts, yeoman, the like sum of five pounds.

To my grand daughters Susannah Predy and Sarah Predy the sum of ten pounds each and to my son in law Thomas Predy one shilling only.

All the rest and residue of my stock of cattle, corn grain, hay, implements of husbandry, estate and effects of whatsover and wheresoever I give and bequeath to my said son Walter Vines, his executors and administrators, subject to the payment of the above legacies, debts if any and funeral expenses.

And lastly I do hereby constitute nominate and appoint my son the said Walter Vines whole and sole executor of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking and making void all other will and wills by me at any time heretofore made.

In witness whereof I the said Sarah Vines have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year  first above written.
