This will is difficult to read, not only for the 17th century penmanship with its flourishes and swirls, but for the small cramped writing, and the fact that the right hand edge of the copy is illegible with over-exposed black smudges. Words at the right hand end of some lines are missing. It is a very important will in the linkage of Vines families of Grittenham with others of nearby hamlets. The one and thirtyth day
of May in the year of our Lord God one thousand six hundred seventy four.
