The Will of Ellinor
Vines, of Dauntsey 1680
In the name of God Amen.
The 7th day of June in ye two and thirty yeare of ye reigne of our Sovereigne
Lord King Charles ye second and in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand
six hundred and eighty. I Ellynor Vines of Dauntesy in ye County of Wiltes,
widdow being sicke and weake in body but of sound and perfecte memory,
thanks be given to Almighty God for ye same, doe make and ordaine this
my last will and testament in writting in manor and forme as followeth:
First of all I give and committ
my soule into the hands of Almightie God my heavenly father who gave it
with a full assureance through ye Merritts of Jesus Christ my only saviour
and redeemer to have my sinns freely pardoned and forgiven and my body
to ye earth from whence it was taken, to be buried at ye discretion of
my executrix either in ye Parish Church or Churchyard of Dauntesey aforesayd.
As for such worldly goods
and estate as it hath pleased God to bless me withall I dispose of them
as followeth:
Imprimis I give and bequeath
unto my three children Thomas Vines, John Vines and my dauthor Joane Vines
all my goods and estate whatsoever as well moveables as unmoveables not
by expressed nor bequeathed hearin.
I doe give unto my three
children whom I doe mamake and ordaine to be joynt executors and ye goods
...? be equaly devided for them, of this my last will and testament to
see my legacies payd, my debts descharged and my body to be decently buryed.
and I doe hearby revoke and frustrout? all other wills whatsoever by me
heartofore made either by words or writting in witness whearof my hand
hearunto put my hand and seale the day and year above written.
